mint-ish swaty?

Would you call this a mintish swaty? I see a little chip in the lower left corner, but if there is still a watermark on it, than it must mean it was never used?

I just won it on a local auction site- 30 bucks.

What do I need to know about it? Have I got this right:
Lap it at first to see how flat it is (if not- lap it),
3-10 laps for touch ups- fast hone,
grit 8k-10k,
no need to lap again in a long time,

Anything else?

I really wanted a swaty, from Marburg-Maribor, a part of Slovenia- former Yugoslavia, as was Croatia, a city where my grandparents met and where my father served the army. Now I got one at last!:001_cool:

The watermark doesn't mean it was never used because the other (longer) side would have been used first. What does the other side look like? If the surface is in good condition, you may not even need to lap it.

I'm waiting for it to arrive. Should be in my hands in a few days.

Even if the other side is bad, I can always use this side which seems good. With the prices of swaty today and the shipping across the ocean, I find it a good deal.:001_smile

I think it's a good hone. There shouldn't be anything bad about the other side. The only question is whether it needs to be lapped or not and my guess is that it won't.

I always like to lap these because they usually have years of crap built up on them too and once you lap them flat you will probably never have to worry about it again.

These are very good hones though :)
