MiN New York for shaving supplies

Hi all,

This isn't meant to be an advertisement for this website. Just thought I would pass it along in case it hasn't been mentioned. I happened across it and it seems to be have a large selection of TOBS, GFT, Merkur, and SMN products. Lots of different scents and products.

Just thought I would mention it as an additional resource.

Prior to discovering B&B I pretty much purchased everything from Amazon for a few months. I placed my first wetshaving order with MinNewyork and never received it. Sent them 4 e-mails with no response and ultimately had to file a dispute with Amazon in order to get my money back. A few things to keep in mind:

- My experience may have been a fluke so you may want to take a look at their reviews on Amazon prior to purchasing. Also, the store site may provide better service than the Amazon site.

- They ship all packages requiring a signature so make sure you specify that you do not want to sign for the package when placing your order.

- Sesto Senso is a great vendor on Amazon.

Just my $.02

Sorry to hear that. I will definitely check out the reviews. I actually just placed an order for some Proraso Pre/Post shave cream with the sole purpose of seeing how their service is. I will definitely report back if I experience any similar problems. There was definitely a checkbox to allow delivery without signature. I distinctly remember that.

Maybe there was a problem in communicating through amazon? I made my purchase directly through their site. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Yeah, perhaps it was just an Amazon thing. Reading through the reviews it appears that most folks are happy with their service. Mine was likely just an isolated incident. I hope everything goes smoothly with your order.

Hello Badger & Blade Forum!

Despite our very best efforts, we have been experiencing challenges sending/receiving communications through the Amazon interface. It seems that a day doesn't go by without having us submit another technical support ticket.

Customer service is paramount and we do our very best to treat each customer the same way that we would like to be treated ourselves. The Amazon interface has made that very difficult, unfortunately, and some customers have experienced the downside of that. Although the technology may seem to be great, the Amazon interface serves as a middleman. We prefer to work directly and ensure the end result.

As some of you may know, we have opened up a flagship location in Soho New York on 117 Crosby Street and we encourage you to stop by. While we have been in operation for more than 10 years operating www.MiN.com we felt that there are limitations to operating online vs a physical shop where people can come in an see it all and experience it firsthand.

If you have any questions please give us a call 212.206.6366 or email [email protected] as we are here to help.

Kudos to Badger & Blade for a terrific and ever evolving forum! We look forward to serving your needs in 2010 and beyond!

Sincerely yours,

Chad

I had ordered from them directly and received the order promptly. How ever I had an issue with one of the TOBS creams. One of the tubs looked to b missing quite a bit. And was a bit lighter in weight compared to the other tub. I emailed and got a response in a day...when I responded I didn't receive a response for days. once I emailed again...then they give me a call while I was at work. I emailed again to resolve the matter finally and no response again. I have given up on them...all I wanted was some answers and resolution. just fyi for people who want some feedback. oh btw hello B&B!

my experience with MiN thru amazon was disappointingly similar. i separately ordered a couple of items on different days. weeks went by, no communication, and of course neither of the items i had long paid for. finally forced to file with amazon for a prompt refund.

as a power amazon.com user, i have ordered from literally hundreds of amazon's merchants over the years and very, very few have been this utterly neglectful of basic customer service. please note, i had two separate transactions, neither of which were ever even shipped. most third-party amazon merchants seem to have little trouble filling their orders or communicating with me if there is a problem. so i don't buy the argument that the amazon "interface" somehow makes this a near-impossible task. the interface didn't seem to impede their accepting my payment in a timely fashion.

sadly, i'm not in the financial position to offer interest-free thirty day loans however modest the amount.

sesto senso is an example of an amazon vendor that always comes through. i use them a lot because if you look carefully they often offer free shipping on items others charge for. that's so fine.
no connections to either, just a customer.

Thanks for the response Chad, and welcome to B&B!

Often times, it's better just to order from a vendor directly than go through Amazon. Sometimes Amazon will list stuff in stock that the vendor doesn't actually have. I've gotten cheaper prices and discount codes by going direct too. I buy stuff through Amazon marketplace sometimes (not shave stuff usually) but sometimes I also just go direct...Amazon isn't always the best way.

i quite agree, and i've ordered direct from several merchants i first used on amazon. however, i've been burned too many times giving the benefit of the doubt to niche vendors especially before i found b&b. i use amazon because i know no matter what they'll make good on an unreliable or plain dishonest third-party merchant.

again, it's been my experience that the top-flight amazon merchants pay attention to the details, including meticulously keeping track of their stock and sharing that info with the customer. often, they even display a running tab of exactly how many of a given item remain in their stock and in my experience they've always been accurate. a couple of times, i've bought something this way on amazon, then checked on that same vendor's direct site and seen the item correctly debited from their inventory.

then you have chad from MiN in the above post admitting they're STILL causing pain and suffering to their unsuspecting amazon customers at the steady rate of at least one every day. if there's a problem, fix it. if you're not going to do something right, why waste everybody's time doing it at all? my mind simply reeled when i read that.

i'm loyal to a fault to companies that stress and execute superior customer service. but for those who take your money then essentially display contempt for their customers especially on more than one occasion...
they need to be darwin-ized right out of existence. for the first time really, the net gives us a means to do this and do it efficiently. b&b is a sterling example of that process at work.
