Merkur Progress long!

Hello friends, I just bought (online) a Merkur Progress DE razor. Give me your own opinion? Thanks and greetings from Italy.: thumbup1 :: thumbup1 :

First, Welcome to B&B.

I use the Progress in my razor rotation. It takes a little bit of time to get used to it - at least I did since I had a hard time gripping it with wet hands. However, once you get your technique down you will like it.

You can adjust it from a mild shave to very aggressive.

Ciao.

The Progress is a great razor. Start off on the lowest setting and gradually work your way up untill you hit the right angle. Different blades can have their own "sweet spot" so the fun is endless. One thing to look out for is the alignment marks on the side of the head... enjoy.

I have a short handled Progress. I think it is a solid, well made and versatile razor. It seems to love Iridiums, Astra Platinum, and Israeli Crystal + blades the most. Start out with it on a mild setting, and work your way up. Once you get past 3 or so, it becomes very aggressive. Enjoy your new razor.

I love my regular-length Mergress, especially with Derby blades.

I agree with others' advice: start at a lower setting and adjust to find what works best for you.

I started DE Shaving with a Long Handled Progress and agree to start on the low setting. Give yourself a few shaves on that setting and then move up a setting at a time. I found that 4 works best for me with this razor, but like most things it may be different for you.

Enjoy!
