Merkur blade that comes with Merkur razor

doctordial

my brain goes "thonk"
I used a Merkur blade this morning and it was'nt bad. It was great, but it wasn't bad. It was far from a gillette black though.

I tried them and it wasn't my cup of tea. They have been Piffed and I hope their new owner enjoys them.

I, too, had four great shaves with my "included" Merkur blade, but they sure don't get much love around here. Have to admit, haven't tried a second one

I used the included Merkur blades that came with the razors without hesitation and got decent shaves out of them. The Derby included with my Mühles on the other hand, no thanks!

I've tried several Merkur blades in a bunch of razors... They didn't work for me (rough, irritating shave). Even if the Merkur did shave fine, the price is North of Feather and Super Iridium.

I've been using Feather Brand blades in my Futur until a few days ago when I put in a Merkur blade. The first shave with the Merkur blade was good, not feather good, but acceptable. The second shave not so good. On the third day the shave was quite uncomfortable. I would not recommend the Merkur blades.

I do like the Feather Brand blades very much.

Merkurs were the first DE blades I ever used. I will say they were better than the carts I was using, but I pretty much forgot them after I tried some other blades. Seems like there are better blades for the same (or less) money.

I do find that the first shave is good, maybe even the second... but the third onwards are tug n pull. Its all up to personal preference i suppose. I can handle up to six shaves, aslong as i take small strokes and lather up good.

Merkur blades work well enough for me but nothing to write home about especially considering their cost.

I don't mind them, they aren't the best blades but okay, I'm mailing some home so I can shave at christmas.

Bought some 'Super' platinums, and tried one this morning, not so much 'super', lots of tugging and loads of cuts and not very close shave either!... I'll try a second shave with it and then if same, one more blade to see if it's an individual blade production problem.

I had read here previously that they are somewhat disliked...but I had to try them... (But at +0.50p per blade!!! I'd have hoped (but not expected) they'd give a barbershop close, clean shave!)

I also find the performance of the Merkur blades to be inferior particularly given the cost. My favorites remain Feather, Kai and Super Iridium blades.
