I had only seen this razor in photographs and I was surprised at the size and weight of it when I took it out of the box... it is impressive. I have big hands so it works better for me when shaving than some of the other smaller razors. It does not have that vintage feel, if that's what you are looking for. But it's definitely modern, and I hope that beautiful bright blue colour doesn't chip off or fade in the future.

Is it really an official Merkur product? I have only seen it at one store so far. I figured it was just a custom handle jobber...

For someone suffering from arthritis or some other type of hand issue that big chunky handle may just be the ticket.
I wonder if the handle is hollow? Fill it full of bird shot and have yourself a 16 ounce razor.

The only thing that matters is that you like the way it shaves. I assume you also like the way it looks or you would not have bought it in the first place. I have an EJ Georgian and it is a great razor. It has an unusual handle as well.

I'm a single edge guy, and have settled on the big grip Gem Jr. with the bakalite handle. It just feels better in my hand. Very similer to the double edge pictured here. Dan
Yes. Someone had a link a while ago to a Merkur brochure it was in.
If it was a nice wooden handle it might look alright but that blue is kind of loud. But hey if it works, it works right?
