Merkur 25C

Morning Gents,
This morning I took my Merkur 25C for it's second test spin using my favorite Astra SP blade. My first go around was none too impressive. Decent shave, but nothing to get excited about. Today was much more pleasant experience! Much closer shave than the 1st go around. Only had minor weeper due to negligence on my own part. Definitely keeping this little puppy in the rotation.

Anyone else have experience with this marvelous little razor?

Just received a Merkur 1904 OC, and discovered that the head is exactly the same as my 25C. A little bummed to have two of the same razor, just with different handles. Gonna see if I can exchange it for something else. Love the longer handle of my 25C.

The 25c was my first razor also, and I shaved with it straight for nearly 2 years. I had one razor, found one blade fairly soon (Bic Chrome Platinum), Proraso Red and a cheap boar brush. That was my shave day in and day out. And I got good shaves for the most part. Then the post broke off the head where the handle screws on. Then I joined here looking for what I might replace it with, although I already had an idea. I bought a Muhle R89. Merkur replaced the head on my razor no questions asked...which was really nice. However, by the time the replacement head got here I already had my Muhle and B&B had it's hooks into me. That was March.

Now, I have 14 different razors, mostly vintage Gillette's of one kind or another, both open comb, safety bar, adjustable...you name it. However, after all of these razors and all the different creme's, if I need a close, comfortable shave with zero chance of irritation or chance of razor burn/nicks/cuts.....I reach for the 25c. There is still nothing that I am as comfortable with. My only complaint? It takes 3 passes and a ton of cleanup to get the shave I like...and it takes a long time.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss. But I am enjoying the journey....just sometimes not the shaves.

This baby came up in the rotation today. Paired it with a Personna Med blade. Excellent results! First time using this blade, pleasantly surprised.
