Back in the late 80's I used Mennen Aftershave Balm in a green plastic bottle with a white cap which I really liked, but I can't seem to find a photo of it anywhere online. I don't recall it was called AFTA just "Aftershave Balm" and wondering if it is the same before I try to purchase the AFTA variety.

I am not sure of your answer since I never tried the 80s version. I think it's highly likely that Afta is the same thing, though (note there are two versions of Afta today - "original" and "fresh"). The current version of Afta original smells vaguely along the lines of Old Spice. If that sounds about right, I'd go for it.
