Melted & Milled some soaps tonight

Tonight, I received some containers from Sunburst Bottle. I decided to get cracking an melt & mill some soaps down.

Melted:
1. Col Conk - Limes
2. Col Conk - Bay Rum
3. VDH - Deluxe

Milled:
1. Williams (2pucks)
2. Classic Shaving Soap (1puck)

I labeled them with my p-touch, and I think they came out really nice. I am contemplating melting my QED Rose shave stick. All in all it went great. I highly recommend, as it looks a lot nicer and stacks way better...

The bottle of Vodka in the back is actually home made Vanilla Extract ;)

Thanks =)

Oh, in the pics you may find the Col Conk containers warped - they are - apparently - NOT microwave safe. ;)

Where did you pick up those containers. I was looking for some nice glass ones with lids, but these would work just fine. Thanks in advance!

Does this mean you keep your soaps in the kitchen, or you keep your vanilla extract in the bathroom.

Wait. . . I decided I don't want to know the answer.

Did you melt in the microwave?
Or in a double-boiler or something.

I just ask because if you've ever microwaved a bar of soap you'd be a bit reluctant to microwave your precious shaving soaps.

Edit: Stupid question, you said the containers were not microwave safe...

But, may I ask about how long you microwaved? And if you used it on a lower power level or kept a glass of water or something in the microwave with the soap?

Well i did the two conks at the same time, i used the microwave on normal power 15 sec then another 12sec or so. I think the extra twelve seconds warped the containers.

After that, for the next one I melted in pyrex - in the micro then let it cool for a bit, then poured into the containers. I then popped all of them in the freezer for a few minutes.

I knew it was a gamble to microwave the containers. But I figured what the heck, in the end they dont look bad just a little deformed. Needless to say Ill melt then pour them the next time. :w00t:

All in all its easy and looks great. The labels make life easier as well.
