Melon shavers!

So I'm loving the whole DE thing. Skin feels great, enjoying the routine - I'm sure y'all have heard this part before.

Save perhaps for my melon. The face is an easy switch, but my ovoid melon - as bereft of hair as it is - is somewhat less easy to shave. The DE razor is less forgiving of the assorted corners of my skull. Any tips for scalp shaving with a safety razor? It's getting better, but it could always improve.

Oh yeah - if it makes any difference, I am using a Muhler R89 with Merkur super platinum blades.

I have been head shaving for 6 years and celebrating one year face & dome shaving with a DE razor. I also use a SE. There are no secrets. Prep your dome like you would your face. The more you do it the better you will get.

As a fellow R89 owner, I prefer a somewhat sharper blade for the melon. I loathe Merkurs. A relatively blunt blade like the Derby performs well enough on my face, but a truly good head shave is achieved with Personna Red or sharper.

Thanks to both! This is exactly the kind of thing that I need to hear. It is absolutely getting better, and the day one nicks are quickly disappearing. Just swapped blades today and feel great - blades are my next slope.
