I've had a Weber for about two months now, and struggled more with blades than any of my other shave gear. With my EJ89 I had pretty much settled on the Feather and the Astra SP.
I don't know if the Weber is different enough, I am moronic enough, my sometimes-two-handed-'cause-I-have-tremors technique requires more changes, or all three...but I have tried quite a few blades and frustratingly, found a blade that worked well one time, did not work so well the next blade.
Howsomeever, I think I have decided what works best. Ha...I have a Weber Wave arriving tomorrow, but the head will be the same, neh?
My number one blade is the Crystal or Israeli Personna. It is sharp enough for my needs and forgiving enough for my tremors with the slightly more aggressive Weber.
My number two blade is the Feather. I love the sharpness of the Feather, I always have, even when I was slicing up my face. But it is performing a little less consistently with the Weber than it did with the EJ89.
My number three blade is the Personna Blue...huh, two out of three are Personnas, at least in name. I did not like the Personna Blue with my EJ89, and PIFed 90 of them. But it is performing much better with my Weber, and become a very reliable blade.
This means the Astra SP has slid out of my top 3. It is a good blade, but it just does not perform as well for me in the Weber. I am keeping my Astras, but I hate to see shaving gear sit...so I will probably give away a lot of them, one pack at a time.
Oh, and some Gillette Blacks arrive on Tuesday, so I will play with them a bit...probably on my San Diego Comic Con trip. I think I will have 4 blade brands with me.
Comments? Thoughts? Have you seen blades change so much when you change razors?
