What's new

McRib is back!!

... for six weeks, anyway. I haven't had one since the 1980's and don't remember them being that great, but I'll probably stop in to get one anyway :001_rolle. Will you?

Had three so far! They got to our neck of the woods about a week ago. I did see that "six week" business on the internet; however, at our nearest McDonalds the sign advertising them says "Joy to the McRib" and features a snow flake. At least here until Christmas?!!

I wonder which animal they're using this time around. Well, at least the penguins and also the puffins (thanks Lou!) are safe.

nothing like eating a single rib from a thousand cows :thumbdown

A thousand "ingredients", but no cow.

McRib Ingredients
McRib Patty: Boneless pork (Pork, water, salt, dextrose, citric acid, BHA, TBHQ).

Well, it can't be all that bad... the pickles contain alum.
(yes, I know it's also used for .... pickling)

I've had two so far. I'll probably get at least two a week until the 22nd.

As an aside. Cincinnati Magazine (I live in Cincinnati) did a profile on several local chef's and their favorite foods/restaurants. The food and beverage manager for all of Jeff Ruby's stated that the McRib was his fav.

My personal romance (addiction?) to the McRib happened when the 22 year old version of myself needed a job badly back in 1990. McDonald's opened just as the lumber yard shut down it's saw for good.

I was in charge of two things at lunch and one of them was to periodically open the top of the stainless steel container, that held the ribs suspended over a bath of boiling water, and stir the pieces of pork product.

Lifting the lid and smelling the smokey aroma of the BBQ sauce was enough to drive me crazy with hunger.

Now the McRib calls to me like Sirens waiting to dash my diet on the rocks of fast food.

I never, never, never, ever eat at McDonalds. But, when the Mc Rib is in town, I'm like a moth to a porch light. I had two yesterday (you get an extra one for $1) and will probably have two more today.

Hmmmm, Mc Rib......

I never ever ever ever ever eat at McDonalds, and I still don't when they predictably "bring the McRib back" at the same time every year.....

Pork, water, salt, dextrose, citric acid, BHA, TBHQ squirted out a vaguely rib shape mold and cooked in no way appleals to me.

also, since when did bread ever need any of this?:
dextrose, fumaric acid, calcium sulphate, salt, acetic acid, soy flour, monocalcium phosphate, ammonium sulphate, cornstarch, fungal protease, natural culture, ammonium chloride, ascorbic acid, azodicarbomide, mono- and diglycerides, propionic acid, phosphoric acid, corn flour, calcium peroxide, calcium propionate, dicetyl tartaric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides, ethoxylated mono- and diglycerides.
