McClelland Frog Morton's Cellar

Good evening gentlemen!

I'm just stopping in to say, I ordered a 100g tin of FM Cellar based on lots of glowing reviews I'd read.

First bowl and a half: not impressed. I have other latakia blends at the moment that aren't this boring, and burn better. =/

I realize (and have experienced) that some tobaccos change over time, so I'll set it aside for a bit and give it another shot down the road.

Disappointed, though, I was hoping to find my new "go to."

Sorry to hear you didn't like it though. If you plan to age it as far as I know you have to put it in a new sterilised container (but don't quote me on that  )

Brandon, have you smoked the "original" Frog Morton? And, if so, how do you compare the two? Could you mention the Latakias that you have that you like? Reason I ask is that I am tobacco "shopping" at the moment, and looking for some recommendations. Thanks!

You get a hint of whiskey with Cellar (don't chase it- just take it easy) and I find less Latakia when compared to the original FM.

The latakias I've tried are local blends, so I'm afraid my comparisons won't be of much help.

I'll give it a few more go's before putting in my final review. Thanks for all your input!

I just picked up a tin of this as well. Being a relatively new pipe smoker (about a year) and never having had something with any real amount of Latakia in it, I was impressed. Much more like the cigars that were my gateway to pipes. (and which I still indulge) Could taste the tiniest hint of whiskey too.
I liked it a lot.
