Maybe the manufacturers know what they are doing - Handles

Over the past few months, the Jagger Georgian has been my favorite handle and I have used it on several different razors. Its big, bulbous shape makes its easy to hold for guys like me with big hands. I also went through a phase last year where I was putting different, bigger handles on my razors to see what the results would be.

So recently I found that I was getting poorer results with my R41 - both cuts and razor burns - I had been using it with the Georgian handle exclusively. Yesterday I shaved with the original Grande handle and saw a huge improvement. I then realized that the shape of the georgian handle had forced my hand into a different position than I normally use and that's what was causing the rougher shaves.

My own experience with heavier handles, including a xxl from Bob, was that it made it easier, as a newbie, to lessen the pressure applied to my face. Now that I have a bit more experience, I find that I appreciate the higher maneuverability of smaller handles even though my preference is for razors in the 80 -100 gram range.

The R41 is the best razor head in the world......period.
That being said:

I am not a huge fan of the stock (not Grande) handle. As this razor was a gift, I got the regular handle. Had I bought it, the Grande would have been on it. I'm hoping to someday find a person who wants to swap the stock R41 handle for something more substantial-Grande, Cooncat Bob, one of those bulbous Jagger handles to which you refer.

But for the nonce, I'm using a prototype handle from the Pureman (hopefully soon to be released) razor. It fits the R41 head perfectly and is more substantial than the OEM Muhle handle. But a bit larger would still be nice.
