Master Bay Rum.Odd Ingredient

Just finished up a bottle of Pinaud Bay Rum. Great stuff; not easy to find around here though.

Figured I'd try a bottle of Master Bay Rum, very easy to find here.

Stuff surely has the correct burn quotient...and something else, a kind of greasy-on-the-skin after effect. Not sure I liked it but more puzzling was what was the cause?

Glycerine?? Yes glycerine is an active ingredient in Master Bay Rum. Never heard of any other after shave or cologne using this as a component. Are there any other products that do??

Glycerine is in AquaVelva and a lot of other skin care products. It acts as a moisturizer. I have read that Master has recently removed the glycerin.

Glycerin is a normal ingredient in quite a few aftershaves, and those that lack it may not perform as well.

Glycerin naturally exists in all soap, and is often extracted during the soap making process, so it can be resold for profit for inclusion in quite a few skin care products.

As mentioned, glycerine is very common. Trumpers Skin Food, for example, is a very glycerine heavy after shave balm

It's funny. Glycerine in high concentration just burns my face.
It's common enough, but skin food just does a number on me these days.

I remember when I started to get really bad dry hands. I went to my Doctor who told me that as skin ages, it loses a lot of nutrients and moisture.
What one could take in their youth may not work for them later in life.

Just food for thought.

YMMV and all that jazz, but I find that I dislike any AS that doesn't contain glycerin or propylene glycol (poor man's glycerin).

Aftershave in it's most basic form is but four ingredients: water, alcohol, glycerin, and fragrance.

Minus the glycerin, all you have is a watered down cologne. It wouldn't do much beyond function as an antiseptic.

If glycerin moisturizes the skin, then that should make the fragrance last longer on the skin. Am I wrong? Think I have read that a moisturizer has that effect on fragrances.
