Mason-Pearson badger brushes

Does any B&B member currently have (or has had in the past) the Mason-Pearson badger shaving brush?

what is it like?

Do they make only 1 model or do they have several?

G'Day Mate,

Mason Perason is not a Brush that is often spoken about on B&B but for someone who has used one everyday for 15 years, it's a great brush and it's completely underrated.

I was given a Mason Pearson brush 15 Years ago by my then girlfriend and now my wife and I have used it since. I discovered B & B and then bought a few more of course. Meaning Simpson, Shavemac and Vulix. In hindsight, I should have just stayed with my Mason Pearson.

Now Mason Pearson brushes are very well made and of very high quality. I have used mine for 15 years and I haven't been gentle with it either and it just keeps keeping on. Mine is the Pure Badger version and it's the softest brush I have. The handle is superb and in fact better than any other brush i have and is great for face and bowl lathering.

Some may call it floppy, I call it soft, durable and simply wonderful. Besides, its a beautiful brush.

I would highly recommend it

Thanks for posting about this one. I recall Mason Pearson as makers of hair brushes (not that I need one of those) but never as a maker of shaving brushes. It is always good to broaden one's knowledge.

My local shave shop carries these brushes but until I saw it on the shelf yesterday I did not know that Mason-Pearson made a shaving brush.

It looked and felt very well made so I thought to ask if anyone has first hand knowledge. Like the Da Vinci brushes it might be a "buried treasure"

I cannot find any information about these brushes. None of the vendors list much information and the Mason-Pearson webpage only mentions their hair brushes. It seems odd to me.

You'll see the Mason Pearson line of brushes often listed on eBay, rather high priced. I bought one (silvertip) at London Bathecary (Charlottesville, VA which still carries them by the way) sometime ago and it has been a good performing brush. The handle is especially well designed, large and well balanced for bowl lathering. There was an earlier thread about these brushes either in this or another forum and I got the impression (maybe wrong) that Simpson's (or whatever the actual manufacturing company name is) fabricates for Mason Pearson.

OK! Here is a picture of my 15 year old Pure Badger Mason Pearson brush. I have used it everyday since I got it as a present. I have not taken care of it until recently and just keeps getting better. In my opinion, it has the best handle of my brush on the market today. A well made, no nonsense brush.

I know someone who works for Pearson Mason, i can ask them questions on your behalf if anyone wishes?

That would be nice.

Ask if they make the brushes or if they are made by someone else and "branded" Mason-Pearson

O.K!! I have finally worked out how to paste photos from an iPad to Safari.

Here are my photos of my long suffering Mason Pearson brush. I have have
used this solidly for 15 years and it just keeps getting better with age.

Thanks for the pictures of your brush (I have yet to master that skill!). As I stated earlier, you can see how the handle is well designed and balanced for both face lathering and bowl lathering.

I just googled M&P shave brush and found several vendors selling pure, best, and silver tip. Cheaper than ebay. Check amazon. Plenty there and you can comparison shop after. Wouldn't mind one of these myself!

I know this is an old thread, but if anyone works for a company that uses RAVE as a rewards program at work, the Mason-Pearson badger brushes are now available to purchase with RAVE points.

Did anyone learn whether MP makes their own shaving brushes or sources from someone else? I have a hairbrush of theirs and it is unequivocally the finest hairbrush ever in my possession (even after I deduct points for the very high price).

Hi everyone, sorry for the long time it has taken to respond to questions, I spoke to the lady I know who works for MP and she told me that all brushes are hand made in a factory in Rayleigh, used to be located in Stratford (East London) but the factory got moved due to the 2012 Olympics.
All brushes are made by themselves and I have to say I've had mine for about 7 years and always put it into very hot water, I only just found out that this can degrade the glue, but this has not happened to my brush, so given the lack of degradation, I see no reason for this brush not last at least another 15 years if not more.....you get what you pay for!
