Manly, Barber Shop-esque smelling after shave?

I'm looking for a good, old fashioned after shave that smells like you've just come from the real barber shops of our youth. Currently, I use Aqua Velva but have been thinking about giving Pinaud Clubman a try. Looking for your reviews of that one and suggestions for other ones.

Pinaud Clubman is the scent used at the barbershops where I have gotten my haircuts. I like plenty of aftershaves, but Clubman is the only one I associate with barbershops.

I think "barbershop" can mean many different things to different people. For me clubman has no babershop attachment, but on the other hand aqua velva blue really takes me back to going to the shop with granddad. I know you already said you own the AV so I'm not saying to go out and get more. What I'm saying is that you have to decide what babershop means to you. Like other members have stated the hundreds of bay rums out there can evoke fond barbershop memories. I prefer Capts choice and Dominica Lime bay rums. Another splash to try that is readily avaliable at most drug stores is Skin Bracer. Enjoy exploring these scents and I hope you find one that works well for you.

I can't ever remember seeing ANY after shaves in the various B-shops that I've been in over the course of my lifetime. I'v seen the occasional Clubman Talc Container, but usually a Dollar Store container of Talc. Lol.

So, for me there is no real B-Shop scent association.:001_huh:

Sucks for me...

I'd definitely give Classic Clubman a nod tho...

This resonates with me. I can't associate a specific product with what I'd characterize as a barbershop smell. Pinaud Clubman certainly evokes it, as do the other old school aftershaves mentioned previously. Growing up in 1950s, I recall barbershops having rows of tall bottles on display on shelves behind the chairs, and the one product I remember vividly is Lucky Tiger, likely because of its distinctive label. It probably was hair tonic, though, as opposed to aftershave.

Booster Polar Ice is what was used in the barbershop I frequented as a kid.

+1 on Booster's Polar Ice. Clubman brings back nostalgia for me in so many ways and I definitely would associate it with barbershops, but Booster's Polar Ice to me is my favorite barbershop-type scent.
