Mama Bear's Sandalwood Vanilla reaction

I just started DE shaving last week and have tried Proraso in the green tub and two Mama Bear's Soaps. Mysore Sandalwood and Sandalwood Vanilla.

I wasn't sure at first if my face was simply raw or reacting to the Sandalwood Vanilla. But I get a burning sensation when I apply this soap to my face. From reading around I guess I'm unlucky in having a reaction to possibly the EO's in this soap? The Mysore Sandalwood is fine and causes no reaction. Which is why I suspect the Vanilla portion.

Has anyone else who has tried these two had a similar reaction and what could it be the Vanilla? Just want to avoid any mistakes in the future by figuring out what I my skin doesn't like. Applied it 3 times over 3 days.

Will probably try to trade this for something else later on the forum.

If you're OK with the Sandalwood but not the Sandalwood Vanilla, it's probably the vanilla.

On the other hand, I'm not sure whether either of those is an EO soap. If the Mysore is an EO soap and the other is FO, it may be that the FO is causing the problem.

I popped over to the site and both of these are in the everyday favorites portion and they are in fact FO's.

From the top of the everyday favorites.

"These are all strongly scented with some of Mama Bear's favorite fragrance oils.. most of these are considered to be unisex fragrances and can be used year-round."

Hmm so maybe I should try the 100% EO's or avoid vanilla. I won't buy blind I think whenever I order again I'll start with a bunch of the various scents in the sample wedges. A shame I really like the sandalwood vanilla's scent. But I can't fight my own body chemistry.

I had the exact same issue with the mysore. I bought her awakenings, masculine musk and many others and realized that the only one I had an issue with was the mysore.

Interesting that your mysore isn't giving issues but the vanilla is.

If you have access to some vanilla EO or even extract (even though it's not exactly the EO), try a little on your skin and see if a reaction develops...Sometimes it's not just one component but the combination of different ingredients that may lead to an allergic reaction

I have the same issue with some. I used to be a big fan of her stuff but found that there were too many that caused me to have irritation. I've since moved on to other products.

Update I used this again for two days out of curiosity with no reaction whatsoever. Perhaps my face was particularly raw during my initial reaction. Which is entirely possible due to my being new to DE shaving.

So I'm pretty happy that I can use that tub as I really do enjoy the scent. But I will keep in mind that a really aggressive shave or torture of my skin can cause soaps to irritate.
