but has anyone been to pelikans site lately, while looking at the suggested M200 for myself i stumbled across this little page
they are auctioning off the beautiful Maki-E pens from the Unique line for the first time ever apparently, im guessing these will go for some serious coin,... like so much for that new car i wanted kind of coin lol

but they do look stunning i wish you could see bidding and how much they are going for, but unless you are involved it doesnt appear they let you behind the curtain lol, though anyone can sign up maybe if someone does you can see

Every time you think you found the "max" for maki-e prices, along comes another pen and ... *poof* the ceiling has been raised and you can't afford that Lexus for another decade.

Is Maki-E a specific artist or the type of art? Regardless, those are some beautiful pieces.

Yes it is, Japanese are for using gold and silver sprinkled onto paper, they have been using it for pens for a long time but the art form has been around a lot longer obviously,... they dont come cheap but are beautiful pieces of art

Doc tossed up a video a while back watching it can make your jaw drop with the results they achieve with how they do it

and these pens up for grabs are one off's, each one is unique from any other and wont be reproduced,.... im sure you can understand the price a bit better by that

its not really a pen you are buying but a functioning piece of are that is worth of a wall mount, to be honest i would be afraid to touch it if i ever owned one

you can indeed without signing up follow these pens btw so maybe i shouldnt have started the thread not that im sure any of our members are actually in on these and if there is it cant be more then one or two who arent going to be swayed by this here post,... man i want to see how high these things go for sure... my own personal health needs them to be worth more then a years rent,... some guy out there has to have a tough talk with his girlfriend as to why their engagement has to wait a few years for him to get a decent ring now though
