Major AD problem

I started this hobby as a way to save money on razor blades. 8 weeks later, this is what my collection looks like. Does it look like I've saved any money on Mach 3 blades yet? Lol!

There are only 6 in that shot so you need at least one more to round out the week. Notice you have also discovered ARKO ... well done Sir things are looking good.

Publius: I have six Techs, five blue-tip Superspeeds, an EJ DE89, and a Feather Popular. Believe me, our RAD is on the mild side compared to many of the gentlemen here.

So I've noticed :p

But I've also noticed the generosity of this forum. Not only generous with products, but generous with knowledge. I've seen a lot of the same questions asked over and over again, and nobody ever replies with "RTFF" and whatnot...This is really one of the best forums I've ever been a part of.

It sure is! I've abandoned most other forums, because I can't take the snarkiness and sniping. B&B is a refreshing change. It seems that since we want to shave like gentlemen, most of us want to behave like gentlemen as well.

By looking at your collection, it appears to me that you're already saving money. You should see the benefits kick in sometime in 2020, provided you don't purchase anything else. I have assured my wife that in 2040, we will reap the benefits of all the items I've bought in 2011 and 2012. She's looking forward to it.

Well said!

+1, best forum on the net.
To the OP, perhaps add a scuttle or lather bowl, a puck of soap, and a badger brush. Nice set up, some classic razors!

He needs a Gillette Tech (preferably with the triangular sloted guard plate, and the fat handle) to round out his collection. No collection of vintage Gillette's is complete without at least one Tech!!

For a beginner you are starting out just fine.

Now when you get to the point of "building" an annex for your collection or you start designing your next bathroom with shaving as the primary purpose...... Where am I going to put the towel warming cabinet? Do I have enough display shelves for my brushes, razors, after shaves, etc. Do I have room for the barber's chair or should I do away with the other bedroom? THEN it is time to start worrying. Until you get to that point, you should be just as "normal" as the rest of us.

My shave cathedral (yes, I have gone TOO far)

Only one brush, one soap... still missing creams/AS
Then maybe some straights, strops, Coti,
Or maybe a nice pen to join you just stop by the Nib

I started with a nice newbie package, now my shelf is overloaded and I just got into straights and fountain pens. B&B is a great enabler of AD

That's a wonderful start tho, you are missing a Tech. That'd help round off your set before you venture into Open Comb!

That's nothing. I started out with at least that many razors, all Gillette Super Speeds, and then I figured out that my SS razors all shaved the same. RAD over with, for a while.

I thought I had a problem because I was rotating through 8 different pucks of soap. It turns out that having a couple years of soap on hand is nothing around here. That doesn't really even count as minor SSAD.

If you really want to save money, simply apply some fuzzy logic with some fuzzier mathematics and amortize your costs over a period of time. Just keep saying that you have saved money by not needing to buy supplies for X number of decades in the future and compared to the alternatives.
