Is the magnet strong enough to support the weight of the razor itself?

No, the rare earth magnets come nickel plated and they are press into the knob, they are also held with red Lock-Tite.

If you used a matching/larger magnet in a stand, it should be able to hold it perpendicular. I got a cup with magnets weighing 3oz total to hold up a 10lb weight:

So somebody please explain what I'm missing? Why magnets in the handle please. 
Forgive my ignorance... What are the magnets for? The only thing that comes to mind would be to store the razor somehow, but most bathrooms don't have many ferritic surfaces that would be suitable for this purpose. Am I missing something? FWIW - the craftsmanship is very nice and it is visually appealing, so Kudos on the work.
Comes in real handy when Mr. Butterfingers drops a blade . . .
