What's new

Maca Root, I'm sorry!!

Guess what. This cream has grown on me big time. The scent was kind of so-so artificial, detergenty gross to me at first.

But...........

It must be the seven year rule this year since I'm 28. Maybe, I was in a good mood this morning. I don't know.:scared::scared:

I LOVE THE SMELL NOW.

don't ask me why.

Oh, and it performs as well as most of the 3T's as well.

win.

Based on the strength of the recommendations in a previous thread, I just went out and bought some. I hope it's as great as people say - I'll be moving from a TOBS sandalwood.

I had the same thing, when i first got the cream it was all i knew of propper shaving cream and it stayed like that for a year. the smell has really grown on me, unfortunately, not for my girlfriend, who doesn't like it so much... lucky for me i discovered B&B and the world of well made shaving products.

Great performer, decent lather, 200 ml quantity, fair price, natural product with a not so strong smell.

Overall it worths a try

I loved TOBS sandalwood for a long time, and after a while, I, all of the sudden, hated the smell.

Opposite of Maca Root. But, performs very similarly.:thumbup1:

Good stuff, but I don't care for the scent. Kind of a modern cologney type of fragrance which isn't my thing. Works great though.

Am I the only one that does not like this stuff? I've read so many good things about this cream, it was disappointing. I admit, the smell is not so bad, it's okay to me. The problem I have with this cream is its lack of slickness. It washes off my face real clean, but almost too clean. My Williams puck is the same way. I would like more slipperiness. The one time I got a good shave with the TBS Maca Root was when I mixed my shave water with a teaspoon of baking soda, per another thread. So maybe the hardness of my water is affecting this cream? Anyone have any similar experiences like this? By the way, my other creams don't seem to be affected the same way.

Again the opposite....I didn't like the TOBS sandalwood scent when I first smelled it. I thought it smelled too similar to Imperial Leather.
But now I love it! I'm about 2/3 thru my tub, and am keen to try the Avocado I have in my drawer (TOBS avocado cream, not the actual fruit....I wouldn't shave with that.)

Used it today; on sale 3 for 2 at Bath & Body Works puts it on par price wise with the "cheaper" creams.

I will agree with the lack of slickness comments, but it does have a nice fluffy cushioning quality and does leave my face well hydrated.

Before I started to shave with a safety razor, I would always carry a tube of Body Shop cream when I travelled. Now I have a Palmolive stick in my travel kit. I might have to pick up a tube of Maca Root to test.

I handed this stuff onto my little bro yesterday afternoon, even though it produces a nice puffy lather. It just doesnt have the slickness of Proraso! Which is cheaper.... I do like the scent of Maca Root, but its a little bit of a let down in the slickness area.

The Maca Root is in my rotation as it is good but not great and it lasts a while due to the size of the tub. I'm trying to use up the last of my tub so I can have a new blade bank soon but it's still kickin. I'll probably pick up another soon because it is something I can pick up locally. And yes sometimes I do wish it was a little slicker, but it doesn't dry out my face like some others.

You seem to be re-visiting some old stuff in your den and finding that it actually works pretty well or that you now like the smell. I call it a big :thumbup1:

Had my first go with it last night. I didn't mind it at all! Lathers up very well, and really quite a good shave.

I'm happy I bought this.

I found it to be at least as slick as the TOBS lavender but with a better scent than the TOBS imho.

Also noticed that the label says it's made in the UK... not sure if that's meaningful, but got me wondering if it might actually be manufactured in the same facility as some of the better known English products. Logical leap, I know, but stranger things have been known to happen in this age of consolidation.

I'm starting to like the smell now. Its in my rotation and works well for me. I even bought some for my father to see how he likes it.
