Loving my Futur

I picked up a Futur on BST almost 3 weeks ago after tirelessly
reading all I could about The Beast (my nick for it) and having
become an exclusive adjustable user, I made the plunge.

Grip: No problems, no slipping.
Appearance: Love it. Sleek and smooth.
Changing blades: Was concerned after what others said,
but so far no cut finger tips.
Shave: Close. VERY close. An IP Red is as much
a formidable weapon as a Feather in this razor.

This razor is no joke, I've yet to adjust any higher than 2. When it came I knew this was big league
shaving by the weight and size. It doesn't tolerate poor technique or ANY pressure, at least for me, YMMV.
It won't replace my Slim as my daily go to, but I do skip a day sometimes to allow my skin to rest and this
is the perfect razor for a couple days growth.

I love mine also, and as far as the cautions on changing the blades and adjustments yes but changing the blade is easy and safe. Pop the cap off change the blade pop back on. Next best thing to a TTO. I'm comfortable at 1.5 , get great shaves and love the heft it has. The like a heavy razor so the weight is an asset to me. Let the razor do the work.

I've had my Futur for close to a month now and I have to fight the urge not to use it everyday. I traded my Progress because with the Futur, I see no need for the Progress anymore (even though it's still nice to have). However, the Slim and Fatboy still have their charm that can't be duplicated.

Hello.
I love my Futur, too. Personally I can shave with it at "4" but the setting "2" is enough for a great comfortable shave every day.
With the right technique a mild setting is all you need.

I loved my Futur, the only problem I ever had was shaving my mustache area. I get growth like right up under my nostril, which requires a horizontal stroke, with any razor I use. I just could never get those with the futur. I think if a person were to have a mustache or goutee, it is the perfect razor.

I have to do the horizontal stroke there too, and the Futur fits just barely.

i have my futur at last 6 weeks, use daily, first pass number 4 ,second pass number 2.no slot for another machine.
i love de gillette slim superspeed, parker 99r, and muhle grande r41 as well.
i use alternate days, but since 2 weeks ago only futur, by sleazy to change.so good.
i'm buying a e.jagger r89l too.i think that progress and futur are the same thing, or almost this.ok/???

Glad to hear of your success with it. I shaved with mine yesterday and always find it a treat to use as it sets the tone of my shave for the rest of the week.

I had forgotten about mine. Used today. Due to sloppy technique I may not shave tomorrow. It can be a faceeater.

I had a little problem with that when I got my Futur. I don't consider myself as having a heavy beard but with a little experimentation I found that using a wide open #6 setting works great. I shave every day, face lather with Razorock Cacao and a forty year old boar brush, use Astra blades and a careful, light touch. I can't over emphasis - no pressure! Let the tool do the work! Two passes get me an excellent shave, three get me BBS (and sometimes into razor burn territory). The Futur is by far the best razor I've ever used.

I have to agree. I'm a first time DE user (came from a fusion) and its's been the best shave I've ever had. I started out on 3 on a recommendation, some how with changing the blades over the last couple of months it's creeped to 6! Everything's still tight, I guess I've been twisting it little by little...

I returned to DE shaving in early 2000. The Futur was my first DE razor since my old slim adjustable circa 1968.
13 years, 30-40 De's and a couple of dozen straights later, I still can't say that anything I tried shaves significantly better than my Futur.
Some of my razors are more stylish or more fun, or more nostalgic, but for getting a no drama, superb shave with almost any blade, the Futur is King.
(I leave mine set at 2.)

Sounds about right, the Futur is a great shaver. I like mine set at 1.5, that's one of its strong points you can customize it to you taste. I like its heft and size. Feels good in my hand. Just a good shave all the time.

I went traveling around the US on small highways for 3 months "to see Amerika" in my "Toy" RV.

I took 2 razors with me.

One of them was a Futur.

This should say a lot because I could have taken any one of hundreds of razors I have here.

Futur ROCKS

This is the DOPP and shaving supplies I lived with for 3 months straight

Does the blade bend on a Futur or other types of TTO razors ( i know the Futur isn't a tto) like they do on a screw down DE? I would guess that it may not?... does this affect blade angle at all?

The head is held on by 2 pins that go through 2 spring clips to snap on.

The blade is held very tightly and it is bent/curved just like with any other DE razor
