Love the scales, but van i keep'em?

Got this just yesterday, and as much as I love the heavy, sturdy bone scales I wonder if the can be used or is it just the bin for them?

they would clean up well with some sanding but im not sure around the rear pin

It does not look like the crack will affect how tight the pins are. If the blade is tight, I would say hang on to them.

If you aren't concerned about the appearance of the missing piece and the pin is tight, leave them alone. If the pin is loose read how to tighten the pin and do it. If you break the handle while tightening the pin just put new ones on, but do not throw away the bone scales. There will be a time where you will need the back scale or you will have a shorty blade you can use in them and shorten both scales to match.

+1. If possible to keep as-is for now I'd do that. If you end up with a shorty that needs scales, you can re-shape those.

Thanks, they are quite sturdy, so ill try to let them hang on for à while. Will se after à good clean up.
