Lord Super Stainless

I buy what I think was a bargain in 100 Lord Super Stainless blades for under ten dollars delivered.
I had read reviews of the Lord blades which state that they are on par with WM Personna and other low cost blades so I figured at less than a dime per blade I would give them a try.
My question is what is Lord's connection to Wilkinson Sword? Was the Lord operation once a Wilkinson factory and if so which Wilkinson blades were made there and when?
Thanks for any answers of reviews of this blade.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the connection is that they are using old Wilkinson equipment to make the blades.

Cool. Maybe the equip isn't so worn out that I won't be able to shave with them! lol!
I couldn't turn them down at that price.
I have bought 350 blades in the past two weeks  (Gillette 7oclocks/Super Thins and now these) I must be LOSING my mind........That should be a few years worth of shaving by my best estimate.

You don't even have anywhere near enough blades to get you through the Shaveppocalypse!!

Bah! I am not thru :w00t:
If I can stockpile 24 pair of hi-top Chuck Taylor's, 44 Western Electric model 500 telephones, 5000 rounds of 762X39 ammo, 350 Atari 2600 games and 2500 issues of Superman comics I can gather enough blades to make it thru the Great Crisis  :)

Lord was owned by Wilkinson till somewhere in the 70's or early 80's but I don't know if there were Wilkinson blades made. The company has been nationalized as far as I know and modernized (which in itself doesn't meen anything I guess).
Their Super Stainless blade is my absolute #1 blade but beware of counterfeits; too cheap might be (vastly inferior) chinese!
Hope you like them too!

I'll take one of those model 500's

I wonder if my sample pack had knockoffs; the Lord SS blades I have consistently tear my face up...

Hard to tell; no other item has the YMMV factor as much as blades have but I didn't encounter another blade with the same sharpness/forgiving ratio.

And I did try a lot!

Even sharper blades (like feather) don't give me a remotely better shave so for me the Lord SS is top off the bill.

Reference; I can't get a decent shave out of any Dorco, Derby recent Wilkinson and I am starting to hate everything with Gillette branded on them!

I have been using over a hundred of Lord SS's and I haven't found one bad blade yet but I have to say that some are better than others.

I now believe the blades I got were counterfeits
I bought 200 blades and he threw in 10 blades for free. The free blades were GREAT but the packaging was a little different from the ones I bought (larger box and a model number on back and were not sealed in plastic) The NON free sealed boxes jerk and pull on my face like trying to shave with a piece of flint!! I tried three of them and they were all garbage. I have bagged up all the Lords and will be giving them to a friend of mine to try, if they work for him I will let him have all 200 for ten bucks, if not I will chunk them in the garbage.

I just ordered 100 more Green Russian Gillettes and 120 more Super Thins and decided to try a few boxes of Derby as well since they seem to be so well liked around here. No mor Lord blades for me no matter the price!

I suffered through a couple of shaves with the Lord Super Stainless: they more, or less ripped my face up giving me far more nicks than I am accustomed too.

Don't write off the entire line of Lord blades though: they also make the Shark blades, which while they are not my favorites, they are an acceptable quality middle of the road blade. Others on the board simply love the Shark blades. :thumbup1:

I would actually like to try the Shark's someday. My buddy is gonna give the Lord blades a spin and if he doesn't like 'em we will send them back to....EBAY! lol!

I hope the Derby blades are as good as I read, I will try one when they arrive. I will have to say that next to the vintage Schick Krona blades the Russian Green Gillettes and Thai Gillette Super Thins are the BEST blades I have found.
