What's new

Looking to buy a new Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin.

My skin is on the sensitive side when it comes to shaving. I tried using the following Taylor of bond Sandal wood shaving cream, and man that was terrible, I don't even think that was for Sensitive skin. The best one I ever used was nirvea gel but still looking for something a little bit better.

I'm thinking of trying the Taylor of bond avocado, but im kinda scared of trying TOB again. Maybe I just picked the wrong one? I might just get this again

Thanks

I have sensitive skin. But I have use tobs sandalwood without any isues. The least irritating that I have used if proraso white or truefit and hills unscented.

I have a thick beard and sensitive skin. I also have to shave every day. I would recommend Castle Forbes Lavender. I've shaved with TOBS Sandalwood and Avocado, good shaves but occasional burn and ingrown hairs. Castle Forbes is unbelievable, no irritation, BBS every day. It has essential lavender oil in it so its like getting preshave oil in a cream as well. It's more expensive however, you need far less cream and this stuff explodes with lather.

Your profile does not say where you are located. You might want to update this so that you can receive better (more location centered) help from other members.

To update your location profile:

1) Click Settings at the top of the page
2) On the left sidebar under My Settings click Edit Profile
3) Scroll down and enter a general location (how specific you want to get is up to you)

That said I am going to recommend something that is the mildest, slickest, cream but you may not be able to find (depending on where you are located)

Kiss My face shaving cream:

If you're near a Body Shop try their Maca Root shave cream. It's an excellent cream and seems like it would do very well with sensitive skin.

Turtle is right about Kiss My Face. Fairly scentless, slick and mild. Does a nice job.

I'd add Art of Shaving Unscented to the list. More expensive and more better (IMO of course). Very slick--the stuff glistens.

I have 4 very good possibilities for you to try. I have a very thick beard and quite sensitive, allergic skin. These 4 great creams have never bothered me at all.

1)XPEC Unscented, 2)Spencer Devon Unscented ,and actuually two others that have a scent. Those are: 1)T&H Ultimate Comfort and Castle Forbes Lime (or Lavender)

I have never got on well with TOBS products in general, especially the creams. Got them really cheap in a sale once and they were terrible.

I can totally recommend Castle Forbes Lavender as well. what was said above is spot on. Also look at some of the Trumper's creams though.

Sandalwood is a known irritant that quite a few gents are allergic to.

Just avoid anythinh with Sandalwood.

+1 for Kiss My Face. I don't find it too slick, but I fix that by swirling a few times in my Arko bowl :D. Try any creams that are of the "lighter" scent variety. Even then though sometimes you get a stinger. I have sensitive skin as well. Might sound silly, but keep a notebook of some sort and write down what creams/soaps bother you.

I have the TOBS avocado and it is good stuff. Can't imagine it causing any problems

+1. I can't tell if I have sensitive skin or not (I know that I generally do, but I'm not sure for shaving) and Avocado is just great. Its cushioning, very moisturizing, and the scent is more melony/cucumbery.

I have sensitive skin too and can't handle sandlewood products. Sandlewood colognes break my skin out. So I don't have much desire to try sandlewood soap/creams.

I'm fairly new to DE shaving and have had a couple of reactions to creams already. Palmolive and Herbs of Bulgaria lavender.

Have had good luck with CO Bigelow, (but you may not like the menthol) Tabac & Queen Charlotte Cream.

I always thought I had sensitive skin (but it may have just been my old shave routine :blushing: )

I started DE shaving with Proraso white pre-shave cream and soap. From the very first shave, no irritation. Heaven. It has a slight cooling effect but it's pleasant. I've recently tried TOBS Grapefruit and that's worked well too. Doesn't have the cooling effect of Proraso so may well be a better choice for those very cold winter mornings!

TOBS make great creams. Their Jermyn Street is made for sensitive skin, and is both great smelling and really easy to lather.

TOBS Sandalwood did not work for me. TOBS Avocado and Jermyn Street work much better for me. I find Avocado and Jermyn Street perform pretty much the same. They provide good cushion and are pretty moisturizing. I have irritation issues with a fair number of soaps and creams but never had a problem with these two.

Get products for sensitive skin creams/preshave/aftershave (if that also gives you irritation, then there may be another explanation) and also get a sample pack with different creams and see what works for you. Many mentions a lavender cream (I haven't tried that one in particular) but I for example do get a tingling feeling in my cheeks when using TOBS lavender, so I guess there's many different thing people may be allergic/sensitive to.
