are you sure you don't want your father's birth year razor.
There may be Gillette DE's with plastic handles from 1993. Something like the G1000 perhaps?

Your post got me thinking about a razor I picked up a while back, and I decided to see what info might be available. Mr Razor's place was the first stop, and that did the trick.
Turns out this Slim Twist DE model (G2000) was made in England and marketed in Germany I believe. It's dated L2, which makes it 1991. Never tried one of these, but it looks promising. Jan was right about this having a plastic handle.
So ideally, you'd wanna try to find one that's dated N something. Good luck with your search,

Wasn't DOVO/Merkur making DE's in '93? Or is that a newer venture for them?

Both Schick Kronas and Schick type N Injectors were readily available in drug stores then. The problem is that they don't have date codes on them....I was using them as well as the Tracer FX at that time.....
