Longhairs: confess!

I have had long hair now (past mid-back) for about five years. I could not conceive of cutting it any time soon, and will probably have long hair until I start balding (if I do).

I am curious to find out how many dedicated B&B shavers are also longhairs. It seems to me that the traditional barbershop type will not have any inclination to grow their hair out.

Not me. Can't stand it when it touches the tip of my ears!! I like those "high-speed / low-maintenance" cuts!!

Mine has been from bald (shaved it to the scalp) to past my a few inches past my shoulders. Now, it is cut short and I love it. I do wish I had some pictures of me with long hair though.

It's been over 30 years. I did cut it short twice, but that didn't last long (pun intended).

On the contrary, having long hair makes me more conscious of being clean shaven and neatly trimmed. Not that I'm always on top of it, but if I don't shave, between the beard and long hair, I look like Jedia come down from the mountain. I'm scary enough as is.

One thing I miss this time around is I trimmed the sideburns. Makes for a cleaner look, and lets me get away with a tiny bit of stubble. I've actually been defended vis a vis other people with short hair by relatively conservative people at work because with a pony tail and neatly trimmed sideburns, it looks like a clean cut, or at least shows respect for that look, and it's okay if I let my hair down after work. They told the other guy to get a hair cut, not me, because even though he had short hair, it was hanging a bit over his ears, and his sideburns were scraggly. But I really miss the feel of those long sideburns draping down my face. If I ever cut it short again, I'd probably do the hassidic doo.

i've got hair about shoulder to chin length. it looks good, but i think i'll be cutting it short soon (for the first time in a long time).

Mines almost mid back. I took a bit of length off just cos it was so damn heavy and the ends were getting split. I have it in a pony tail whenever I'm out and even a lot of the time at home.

I really don't think it's much work but I guess I've had it since I was about 15 (21 now) so don't really know any other way. I simply wash it in the shower and then it only takes a minute to brush and pull back. Beats messing around with goo and styling and stuff :p certainly takes me longer to shave. TBH I started growing it mostly cos I hated getting my hair cut regularly (it grows fast).

I agree with SiBurning that with trimmed sideburns it looks quite respectable :p but I think I ruin that by adding a goatee, black shirt and motorcycle.

That's my reckoning. It really is less effort having hair long enough that it fits in a ponytail:

1) No haircuts. Doesn't get easier than that.
2) Shower, shampoo, pull back. 1-2-3 and all done. No styling needed at all.
3) You want refined, think Col. Tavington. Long hair pulled back and a clean shaven face looks very nice.

Reformed. And don't miss it one bit.

My feelings seem to mirror yours. I had hair going down to my elbows but I decided to shave it off for the World's Greatest Shave and I haven't looked back. Besides, I now spend less on products promoting the growth of hair more on the removal of it.

I'm all about the low maintenance hair - that's why I havn't cut it since I shaved my head about 16 years ago (or brushed it in the past 14).

Mid-thigh length dredlocks, currently.

I had long hair (pony tail) from my late teens until I was 22. It's been very short for the last 28 years. However, it's been a year since my last haircut. Another year to go and I can tie it back. It's a mid-life crisis thing. Seeing as I'm not bald and not grey at 50, I'm going for it. Much less expensive than a red convertible and the feedback from women has been overwhelmingly positive.

I finally cut off my long hair (middle of the back) about 2 years ago. I sported long hair from 6th grade until my 30's

I still love Metal though!!! :thumbup1:

Show off your locks while you still have 'em!:thumbup::thumbup:
