Longevity of blades

Sharpness aside, I have found that some blades far outlast others for the number of comfortable shaves.

Top of my list is the Gillette Bleue European made blade (sadly no longer made) which will do up to 7 shaves, closely followed by Nacet (again discontinued) which I suspect is actually the same blade.

In descending order, the rest of my list is

The following do about 4 shaves

Rapira Platinum Lux
Rapira Voskhod
Rapira Ladas
Supermax SP
Supermax BD

The following do about 3 shaves

Shark SS
Lord SS
Wilkinson Classic

The following do 2 shaves

Derby

Incidentally I don't think there is any noticeable difference in preformance between the Rapira Voskhod and the Rapira Ladas. I understand the only difference between the two blades is that the Voskhod is teflon coated, but with a good cream I cannot tell any difference.

However the Supermax SP does get one more shave than the Supermax Blue Diamond.

These are the only blades I have tried recently.

I must be odd because I almost always get 6 or 7 shaves off of just about every blade I have used.

I have one Brazilian Gillette that has 10 shaves on it and still going strong.

I have also found that blades last longer when used in my slants for some reason. I can take a blade I think is a goner and put it in a slant and still get a decent shave out of it

I don't try to stretch blades past where experience has taught be they begin to fail. Gillette 7 o'clock Blacks, Polsilver SI's, and Personna Med Preps are the logest lived for me. Five shaves. Almost all other DE blades are three shaves for me. I could take them all further like turtle, but my combination of coarse beard and sensitive skin don't permit it. This is definitely a YMMV topic.
