What's new

Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin

I apologize for not searching through the threads better than I have to figure this out before posting the question, but what are folks takes on this one?

I seriously over paid yesterday for a 3.4 oz bottle ($50). I thought it was discontinued and hard to get, but looks like it is easy enough to get on-line. Tania Sanchez (Luca Turin's sidekick) gives it four stars in the Perfume Encyclopedia. She gives the feminine version 5 stars but recommends the masculine version for women that feel the fem version is too sweet, somethinig like that. And the perfume kiosk guy I bought from (Tysons Corner, VA--amazing selection and an interesting guy to talk to; Creed 4 oz SMW for $165 and you might be able to talk him down) said he had sold a number of bottles to women.

Seems to show up as a frag that men have noticed women as liking on them. I have never given much credibility to threads that ask what frags women like on men, as I truly do not believe a particular frag is going to make that much difference across the board with women, but I may be wrong. My wife who seems indifferent to the vast array of scents I wear from very expensive to very inexpensive, and usually will not even humor me by giving an opinion of what I am wearing, says she really likes this one.

I have worn it two days in a row and right now and right now am feeling a little annoyed by it. I feel like I can still smell it, so maybe I put too much on. It does seem to have tenacity. I hope not as much sillage as I am afraid it has.

Big, lasting notes of vanilla and licorice. I would not even say anise, but more a true licorice, which is actually very interesting. Azarro is famous for anise and I think C&S O&C, both of which I really like, and truth told, probably love. This seems a little different on the licorice scale. I know that anise is supposedly a very attractive note to women.

And I am not a huge vanilla fan. Angel and Versace Dreamer havve not turned me on, although Caron seems to do interesting things, I guess in Third Man and Pour Homme. I like Clubman Vanilla, but it does not seem very vanilla to me.

Seems exotic, which is usually very appealing to me. Does have an oriental feel to it. Definitely not run of the mill.

Have not made up my mind about this one, but am fascinated that it appeals to my wife so much. I normally dismiss comments that say a scent gives them a headache, as I do not find that happens to me. But I am not sure that something in this one is not giving me a little bit of a headache. Maybe a sinus type issue. Again, very unusual for me.

Thanks for anyone's thoughts.

Is that the guy I mentioned to you down on the 1st level by Macy's? If so, I didn't realize he had Creed as well.

I find it fascinating how people smell minute things in different ways. Unlike colors, which seem to be a bit more objective (except for the blind or color blind) - smells are much more difficult to universally describe to one another. I know that my wife and I have wildly different sensitivities to scents, aromas and odors, and I wonder if it's a gender issue -as she claims - or something else entirely.

I have it and like it. A little goes a long way for me and it lasts all day. Too much and it eventually makes me a bit queasy. I got mine at Costco BTW.

I really like this scent. I went through a bottle of it a few years ago. I haven't found anything else that replaces it; I know women really like it, for the most part.

Just go easy on it and it's fine. A great scent, as far as I'm concerned (but then again I like vanilla in colognes).

I had it a few years back. I always remember the anise...great bottle.

It's quite unique and I don't mean that in a bad way...stands out a bit more as a result.

Just not right for me.

I think a lot of women quite like it, which is rare for something that distinct. My experience is a lot of women like frags that are most familiar (but not always).

I did not realize that guy was in a kiosk rather than a store front! He was not that close to Macey's, as I recall but he was on the first floor. I looked around for a name of his business, but did not see one. Maybe on the receipt if I can find it.

My wife clearly smells somethings differently than I do. I really have no idea whether it is a gender thing. I am guessing by the scent descriptions that it is not just gender, anyway!

At the risk of painting with too broad a brush, I would guess that women have more discerning noses...

At least everyone I ever met has.

i am afraid my wife and I both would fall into the older group in that study for which no gender difference was found!

My mother could certainly smell alcohol or cigrettes on an offspring's breath at incredible distance and in low/masked conentrations!

Where my wife's differences in perception came up was around rose type scents and trying to get close to 88. She smelled things in formulations that were off putting to her that did not smell different to me. It was rather stunning really. A worrisome concept that I could be wearing something that smelled just like some other acceptable scent to me, but smelled very different and "bad" to others!

Yes, I'm bringing this dead thread back to life. I respect the mods' wish not to create duplicate threads, and I just need to comment on how much I enjoy this fragrance.

I enjoy it for many reasons. It has a great gourmand licorice, A*Men Pure Havane-like, masculine fragrance. It has tremendous longevity. My long-legged blonde young barber compliments me when I wear it. It's relatively inexpensive. It contrasts significantly with my Kouros-Yatagan-Lapidus-Quoros mainstays. And it's fun for a 59-year old dude.

I'm sporting it it now, and wondering why I don't wear it more often.
