Loft help

Hi---I only have a few brushes (a duke 3 and Semougue 2011 LE size 2)-My question is what size knot and loft is best
for bowl-lathering creams as that is what I prefer. I just came off 1 year of soaps only and am going back to creams.I never really
got into buying alot of brushes but I need a new one as I don't really like the Boars as much as the badgers-Thanks for the help

All depends on what you like. I like a 22-24mm knot with a 44-50 mm loft maybe even 52mm depending on the hair used. If you like a nice soft brush I would go for a longer handle and a short loft soft knot like a Grade A from TGN.

I don't give much importance to knot size and loft. I go more with the performance of a brush for the job.

The best brushes I have found for bowl lathering are:

Kent BK8

Da Vinci 290

Both have very different knot/loft sizes but both are killers at whipping up a lather in a bowl.

BUT.....

There is a lot more than just making the lather.

A brush has to to be able to pickup/hold the lather. Then it has to release it evenly on your face. These characteristic cannot be "measured by numbers" they need to be "experienced by usage"

You can tell from the photos the vast difference between these two brushes. Put them in a lathering bowl and you cannot tell any difference at all in their performance
