The Cade is a lovely performing soap with a GREAT scent. It's easy to find locally, reasonably priced and shaves pretty fine.
P.S. What is a butta? :confused1

Wonderful soap which is easy to lather, gives excellent result. The only drawback is the expensive aluminium bowl. I highly recommend this soap.

It's from a Saturday night live skit with Mike Meyer. Coffee Talk, you'd have to see it. They like Barbara Streisand and they think she's like "butta" (butter)

I got mine on bst with bowl pretty cheap, $27. I don't know what the bowl costs new but it sure looks nice on the counter. After figuring out how to lather this soap (took me two tries) I am very impressed with it. Just start with a fairly dry brush.

I like it! My favourite vegi soap. The bowls are nice but way too pricey.

I tried it and the performance was ok, but the scent was very, very faint. I won't bother to buy it again- there are too many other soaps out there with terrific performance and good scents as well.

I found Cade a little finicky at the outset. I then combined it with the cream to get great performance but the scent was then dire. I now have lathering this wonderful French soap down to one of the best, and most definitely a keeper.:001_wub:

Meh.

Used the Cade balm for over a decade and finally tried the soap. It works. Ok scent but very faint. It's just that compared to the other soaps in rotation, it gets easily trumped on fragrance, skin feel and lather properties.

Of course, this is, as one of my young co-workers likes to say, a first world opinion. Cade is an excellent soap and only those spoiled like plums on a sunny sidewalk in august by other even better soaps would criticize it.

What exactly IS the scent? I keep reading about Cade but don't want to buy it blind. Perhaps I'll order a sample from Gary.

It has a juniper scent with sandalwood and rosemary notes. Definitely order a sample. I like it, but there are those who don't care for it.

I just get a baby powder smell from my puck YMMV.

+1 its good stuff to be sure, but there are better soaps to be sure.

I found it too hard (well, I couldn't be bothered persevering) trying to get a good lather from a Cade puck with a badger brush. It was a cinch with a half wetted boar brush, and it gave a great shave.

I enjoy cade and found it to lather very quickly. It must be our water. I like the scent and performance so it is definitely a keeper.
