Loafers

Gentlemen,

Cam anyone suggest a nice pair of loafers that would be appropriate for work, but still be comfortable? I live in brown or black Cole Haan lace ups at work, and would like something to take it down a notch, but not too far down.

Aside from the Pinch series from Cole Haan? The only other one I have in my head is the dress loafer from Sperry. If you're into penny loafers, they have one from their Gold Cup collection, has their trademark bottom, and nice leather.

Zappos has 17 pages of loafers. You can find several styles that are appropriate for work. Personally, I'm not a fan of kilties or tassles on my shoes, but there are dozens of pairs shown that could be worn to the office.

Allen Edmonds has a few nice loafters, personnally I have my eye on a pair of Brook Brother's Shell Cordovan penny loafers made by Alden. Yes they are really expensive, but considering they can be re-soled/recrafted, I could easily get 20 years out of them.

My current loafers are Sebego Beefroll penny loafers, one in black and the other in a dark burgundy/brown. They are getting on for ten years old and they hold up well.

Kilties and Tassels on shoes: anciano adornments. On second thought, I can't believe I actually wanted a pair at age 23.

Bob,

I frequently wear a pair of Cole Haan loafers. I bought them a year and a half, two years ago and I don't see them now on their website. Since you wear the oxfords, you may be ready to look for something different.

Here are links to two that I personally think look great.

The first is very similar to the Cole Haan pair I have. Plus, it is hard to go wrong with Allen Edmonds.

Here is another pair. They are Santoni. I have one pair of Santoni (unlike the pair in the link). Very soft leather. This pair looks a bit casual, so it may or may not work for you.

Just saw two pairs of Cole Haan loafers at Dillards, one a penny and the other a tassle. Both had a rubber sole and looked to be very comfortable. Certainly appropriate for an office environment.
