What's new

LG Nexus 4

Guys was just wondering if any once has expericence with the LG Google Nexus 4 moby phone. I just upgraded from my Black berry 9780. I just couldnt justify going with a new BB with the poor results in the UK they're having witht the Z10. So bitten the bullet and moved to Android. Big screen and fast processor sold me on it. Never having had an Android phone what would real world user times be like. Any thing to watch out for good or bad. By the way it's a 16MB memory on the UK O2 network.

Thanks in advance. Please no horror stories, I'm still waiting for delivery.

I picked up one two weeks ago and it's an excellent phone. I can't see ever buying anything but Nexus phones after this.

I've heard many good things about the Nexus 4. I have the previous model Galaxy Nexus and it's a fantastic phone. If you are into tinkering, the Nexus devices have a massive developer following in the world of Android rooting and ROMing (customized versions of the Android OS).

I've been on it since release day, wore out my F5 key making sure the order went through!

The N4 is a beast, fast and powerful as all heck. You'll notice the difference from BB almost right away and wonder how you ever stuck with that horrible OS before :)

Two things you need to remember -

First, the huge screen and and powerful processers are going to destroy your battery. Expect to have to recharge during the day, and play around with turning functions off or down when you don't need them. That's just the way it is,you have to accept it or you'll hate your phone.

Secondly, naked Android doesn't do much out of the box, you're going to have to customize everything through apps and addons. That's actually a strength, since you don't get saddled with a bunch of functions you don't care about dragging down by our battery and system resources, but its disconcerting to new users

The N4 Forums at AndroidCentral.com are probably the best place the start learning about customizing your Android experience.

I have one since February.

It's not without quirks and it is a new system you'll have to learn. The glass back is the only thing I don't care for.

I absolutely love it as a supercharged blank slate that came with no bloat and junk.

It was not my first Android phone.

I don't love the camera but then again that's not what I bought it for.

I'm on WiFi networks most of the day.

I have one day solid out of the battery no problem. When no access to WiFi and poor cell signal the battery drains fast.

I love this phone though. You're going to enjoy it.

I'll have to disagree with that. I can have mine unplugged for 18 hours and still have around 60% charge left. Now remember that I"m not a teenage girl either on it playing games, listening to music or seeing how many text messages I can send out.

My phone is my primary computer during the day, so I have it on and off pretty constantly. A better measure is 'screen on time', and I get between 3 and 4 hours off a single charge.

Best phone I've ever owned. I was an iPhone user since the first one up to the 4S. Then a Galaxy Nexus (Nexus '3') fell into my hands and was love at first sight/touch! It was an eye opener. So I got the N4 and couldn't be happier. I also got a Nexus 7 for the kids and is fast and capable.

Colored notification LED, no garbage from carriers, multi-user in the N7 (why it's not this feature in iPads yet?), etc Like I said, I'm a convert.

PS. Battery is very good per smartphone standards, I got a solid day and half, sometimes two. I have 3G, WiFi and all notifications turned on. But I don't use Bluetooth or listen to music.

PS2. I don't endorse piracy, but NES, SNES and GBA emulators with lots of roms is a must! I prefer 1000 times to play Punch Out!, Galaga, Lolo, etc than Angry Things, Zombies and whatnot!

I have mine for the past week, just got ported over to a new cell service provider and the nexus was a perfect fit for the service. So far it has been great but there is still a lot to explore. This is my third android phone after an LG Ally and a Kyrocera Rise.

I was torn between the N4, and the phone I got. Neither gets LTE, so I went with the Korean GS3. Same specs, basically, but 32gigs of space and expandable storage. I also plan on leaving the country in the next year or so, so I wanted a phone that could possibly get LTE -somewhere- which mine can. If I was going to stay in the states, I probably would have been all over that N4. Expandable storage is a bonus, but not needed, and 16 gigs is relatively a lot. Dozens of podcasts, hundreds and hundreds of songs, tons of apps, etc and still have space left. I haven't had LTE yet, so I am good without it, which means I don't need to bother with phones that have it.

Guys thanks for all the possitive posts. Well It arrived the day after ordering and yep I can confirm that unless BB get a move on they will be gone very soon. The whole thing just oozes quality and preformance, smooth graphics and super quick. So far the charge has gone for the whole day no probs but I dont habe that much time to surf etc while at work. Just need a cas and I'm set. Again thanks for the positive inputt :w00t:

Now that you've held it and used it I strongly suggest you go purchase a case for it. It's a shame to cover up something that slick looking but all glass phones do have a slight issue which is glass doesn't take a lot to break and the back of the N4 isn't Gorilla glass.
