Lenghtening Scents?

Is it possible to, in some manner, lengthen a scent without having to re-apply it? With some scents I've noticed that an application of some water will bring out the scent however with a few other my others scents they fade out far to quickly; I don't know if its how I apply it or if its reacting with the oils in my skin but it seems to fade out to an unrecognizable point. Preferably I like my scents to linger without being over powering, like an aura :D Any tricks or suggestions?

My main scents are an old Lacoste cologne call Booster (smells clean and fantastic, I literally think "tennis" every-time I put it on) and John Varvatos Artisan (women love this scent) so any suggestions? Thanks! :w00t:

Thanks for posting, and welcome, Vir.

I have never really tried lengthing a scent myself, but I know that Sue of St Charles Shaving, who know a lot about scents, has in the past suggested using perfumer's oil or something like that, the idea being to rub on a little of this neutral oil and then apply the scent. That the oil tends to preserve and extend the scent.

Others may have other good ideas.

Moisturize your skin prior to application, and apply some on clothing.
Clothing is the only way to really extend predominantly citrus-based scents.

I have sprayed some scents on clothing, too, but am curious if you have experienced any staining on clothes from scents? My wife tells me to be careful, but I haven't seen it happen yet.

I've dabbled with it and wear a lot of white shirts. No issues.

I did make interesting note though that the scent DIRTY ENGLISH warns people not to apply to clothing. I was sampling it and the SA went out of her way to warn me about it.

Do you happen to know how pricey is perfumer's oil is?

Hmmm, this must be some kind of carrier oil.

Well, these people seem to have a ton of information on their site.
