Left over lather

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on what to do with left over lather? After three passes, I still have a lot in my brush as well as bowl/mug. I am guessing there is nothing that can be done other than washing it down the drain, but was not sure if anyone had any ideas of what one can do with it? Price isn't an issue that I want to try and save it for my next shave, rather I just feel like it is always such a waste.

Open to ideas.

After my last pass/touch up I completely lather up again and leave it on while I clean up. After a couple of minutes on my face I'll wash it off and proceed with my routine. Kind of helps put some extra moisture into my skin. Not a lot but some.

Use less product is the only idea that immediately comes to mind, although some lather down the drain is inevitable.

Rinse it down the drain. It's not a waste as long as you had a good shave. Besides, you can't save it. It will just fizzle out as it dries.

Good suggestion and one that has crossed my mind, I only assumed doing so would dry my face out, guess not.

I have tend to not use a whole lot of product either, currently I am stuck on and sold on Razorock shave soap/creams. I just swirl my moist brush around it for a few sec and build a lather in my bowl/mug, so the amt I am using is pretty small.

Oops it appears I quoted my original post, not BrianC's....

Needs milk and a bidet!
lathering up again while you clean everything makes some sense. but trying to save it or prevent waste does not.

try to use less product or simply wash it down the drain. i see no other options.

maybe start shaving your legs or chest? then you could be sure to use it all

I'm sure it can be donated to a Clown school for making practice pies for pie throwing!

Just a thought. You know....support your local clown thing and all.

+1 on that Sir

It's just soap and water. If you squeeze the brush out onto the soap puck the water will evaporate and you'll have a very slightly larger puck. IOW, you can re-use it. The puck won't be particularly pretty after the lather dries out, though.

I do this every time.

Depending on what cream or soap I use, my wife often takes my leftover lather to use on her legs. So there's that.

I'll often use some to shave the back of my neck if it's getting fuzzy. Beyond any of that, wash it down the drain. Some leftover lather is inevitable. You'll either have too much or not enough. Fact of life right there.

For the sake of experimenting, you can indeed squeeze it all back into the bowl, let it sit overnight, and whip it right back into a good lather the next day with a wet brush. I've done it just to see (that, and I didn't want to waste any of the MdC Fougere sample I had...).

+1 I'm doing that with any left-over lather from a puck I would soak before loading. It has worked well so far and speeds up loading the brush for the next shave. There's no way to do it with a shave stick and the Cella tub doesn't have enough room to make it practical but My MWF, Williams and VDH pucks are in plastic Zip-lock tubs and there's room for left-over lather. There's also room in my budget for left over pennies, part of my heritage I guess. Parents and grandparents lived through the Depression and, as Baptists, were skilled at implanting guilt for any waste. I can hear them now, "Don't waste that lather. There's some poor stubbled kid in China who'd be happy to have it for his shave."
