Lapping plate

I see many posts about lapping plates, but was wondering. Are y'all using the DMT certified lapping plate or the regular 325 dmt plate?

I have a 220/325x Duo.
Never tried the 'official' lapping plate.

I use the regular DMT D8C 325.

I just use the regular DMT 325Grit stone to lap my water stones with, Iv'e used the one now for 3 years without any lessening of service.

I"m certain the DMT lapping plate is worth the money but I for one DON'T HAVE THAT KIND O' MONEYS!!!

IMHO, THAT IS their lapping plate is a perk most of us don't need.

regular 325. works great. use under running water. no issues .

Originally - I had a regular diasharp 325x. It died from lapping a few too many Arks.

I use a DMTD8X and D8F behind it or just D8F for touchups.(220 and 600)

I have a DMT lapping plate, but with that said I go to finer grits after the stone is flat.

You can also use Wet/dry sand paper on piece of glass under running water
