Lady Margaret Thatcher Has Passed Away

Margaret Thatcher has died. Apparently from complications due to a stroke. I really admired the Iron Lady. Tough as nails and a proud Brit. God give her rest.

Cheers, Todd

She closed mines, took milk from children, enabled cover ups of police ineptitude leading to the death of 96 soccer fans, dined with apartheid leaders, allowed people to starve, stomped on the lower and middle class. Excuse me if I'm not in mourning today but there's far more to the story than her riding around on a golf cart with Ronnie Reagan

A controversial and polarising figure, for sure.

But let's leave the politics and criticism out of this thread, and allow those who want to mourn, to mourn.

"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

She arguably reversed Britain's decline, which, as late as 1979, was thought to be irreversible. She demonstrated that the free world had some fight left in it. May she rest in peace.

And as a nation we were a damn sight wealthier under Thatcher than we are now.
I want to respect the comment about keeping politics out of this thread, but I think a reality check / some balance is called for.

it is my dearest wish that she has rejoined Reagan and they are both in the place they so richly deserve.

I'm guessing that the UK are having the same kind of day we had when Reagan died. Similar leader, similarly polarizing.

I'm very politically opinionated, but I feel that that's irrelevant in this thread, as she won't be running for much in the future.

RIP

You mean dead, right?

Would someone be so kind as to repost the great commentary by Phil, who said something to the effect of:

I understand your mother died, but I object to the manner in which she raised you, so I can't bring myself to mourn her death.

You posted this same crap when Reagan died, but I can guarantee that you won't be doing so any more.
