Ladies Mug?

I saw a couple of mugs this weekend that looked a bit like this one.

I cut a soap puck in half and put it in the shelf and fill cup with hot water for soaking the brush this works best with a skinny boar brush

Thanks Bob. So it's not completely like a scuttle where the point is to have warm lather. The holes allow the soap to dry after use I gather?

The design is from the days before there was running hot water. The idea is that you fill it with hot water and take that to your shaving stand.

Those scuttles are all to often mislabeled as "mustache cups" in antique stores. They aren't.

you can get a fairly comfortable warm shave just leave your brush in the water use a skinny boar brush and it will work just fine

I don't know how often I see these mis-marked as moustach cups, I've got one I picked because of it's pattern and to have a represetative example of this style for my den
