What's new

La Pavoni!

A few weeks ago, good fortune put this in my kitchen:

After a few weeks of trial, experimentation, plenty of undrinkable espresso and finally a new grinder (below), I am pleased to report that the Europiccola pulls absolutely sublime shots.

As with many other things, Italy has got it just exactly perfectly right.

Thats beautiful Henry! I love my Rocky, but will probably only dream of having a sweet espresso maker.

Looking good, Henry. I have the same setup. Bought a LaPavoni in horrible shape off eBay and restored it. I bought my Rocky new around 7 years ago and it's still going strong.

Takes a while to dial in and I can rarely get more than one good shot, but for my needs it works well.

:001_wub::thumbup: Well done! Those are a pair of beauties.(BTW, where can I get a pig fairy to leave me presents like these?:biggrin1:)

Eat lots of pork. It makes the pig fairy happy

The Rocky is something else. I thought I knew what a good grinder was. I had no idea.

The truth is that I finally fully quit smoking about a year ago, around the same time I started making coffee at home. The money I saved was set aside for a year - not to be touched by various bills, ADs and surprises. At first, as a visible reminder of how much those choices were costing me. When the year mark approached, I found myself in a new home with some empty counter space and love for coffee that knows no stint.

But what a shot it is!

I have the same grinder and its fantastic but oh how I covet the Europiccola! I bought a Silvia instead but, while I'm very happy with it, really want a lever. Are you able to get two good shots in a row or do you have to temp surf by unplugging?

They redesigned the Europiccola a few years ago to prevent the grouphead from overheating. From my experience, the redesign worked. I've pulled shot after shot until it is nearly empty and multiple shots over the course of an hour; they are all the same lovely shots with loads of crema creating a silky, almost unctuous texture.

Nice to hear you like yours! I have a similar model (LP Stradivarius) that works well. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I like mine. :001_smile
