Kobar restore

Hey all,

This is my second set of scales. As I didn't wan't to diminish the engraving in the blade, I've only lightly sanded and polished. Scales are hand made out of Oak with a light finish on them.

Absolutely love the simple and natural elegance of those scales.. I think its a great pairing with a busier blade.

Terrific job. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Also thanks to johnmrson for helping identify the razor. I did some more digging and it in fact looks like the actual manufacturer is Kobar by EMDE Bros Germany.

Very nice job. I've redcently done a rescale of a Bengall blade using quarter-sawn oak as the scale material (see 'Bengall Rescale' post). I used clear acrylic finish as a lubricant for the finer grades of wet and dry (600 and 1500) as it forms a grain filling slurry of wood dust and acrylic paint as it cuts.

There was nothing wrong with them functionally. But I felt a blade like this deserved better then stamped plastic material.
