Hey I just scored this little lot on ebay for £6.40 as i said in another thread i was looking for old dog razors and i think this is a pretty good score. but my question is, does anyone know anything about the knockout razor.
We did love our bakelite..
The Knockout razor in that photos looks mint.. obviously photos hide a million flaws, such as the seller saying he thought the gillette new was unused even though it has a blade in it..
Is it just me who once something is ordered i feel like a jkid waiting for christmas?
I learned the hard way (after buying a lot of 10 Wardonia Bakelite razors that they don't take standard DE blades) at least this razor does. We did seem to make a lot of Bakelite razors - I wonder if it had anything to do with metal shortage due to WW2?
No, not just you - I've bought loads of vintage razors and still love opening the latest parcel.
So far i've just been using Ebay UK, it looks like i should be expanding my search to worldwide. Not seeing these bargains when i search
I think you have it right. The onslaught of these Bakelite razors coincide with with WWII. It only makes too much sense.
My grandad made 'knock out' razor blades in Sheffield in 1945 (I have a box of them he gave me a few years ago) and am very proud that people are still 'enjoying' them - I had no idea they were still floating about, brilliant!Hey I just scored this little lot on ebay for £6.40 as i said in another thread i was looking for old dog razors and i think this is a pretty good score. but my question is, does anyone know anything about the knockout razor.
This thread is reassuring. I thought I might have jumped for a Wardonia like razor. Great to hear they take standard Gillette blades.
I can't wait for mine to arrive. (see below)
I payed less than the price of a Merkur 45 Bakelite, caseless edition, which suits me just fine.
Whether your shave with it or not, it's definitely one to have in the collection and she is selling them for a very reasonable price.
