What's new

Klar Kabinett

I just got a box of supplies from Bull Goose Shaving last week. Phil is always kind enough to throw in a few goodies... it's always appreciated and adds a nice element of surprise.

This time, Phil threw in a slice of Klar Kabinett shave soap. I knew the smell was superb, but knew little else about it. Well, I tried the sample for today's shave, and I'm here to tell you that this product is simply aswesome. There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe it. I like many products, but not absolutely blown away like this over many!
Face latherers will love it... Bowl latherers will love it! It makes a veritable mountain of lather from a small amount of product. The scent is beyond compare!
I hate to gush, but I just hope to get more of this before the word gets out and clears the shelves at Bull Goose.

Maybe Phil can shed further light on the sample I received, but I assume it to be a slice off the bar...

Anyway, now there's something else I need to buy..

Thanks alot Phil... you enabler you!

I got a sample from Phil as well and finally got around to trying it about a week ago. With only one shave to judge, I can tell that I will be using it again very soon. Great lather and scent.

Regards,

Doug

I myself just ordered a block of this from Phil. I was tempted before it came to light here on the forum, but after the reviews started coming in, I pulled the trigger. I havent tried it yet, but the smell.....ohhhhh the smell. Its truly extraordinary.

It has an odd shape, like a rectangular bar, so you will have to mill it for a container. Which i have done yet hence why it is still unused, but it will be gracing my face shortly

I bought a block of this a couple of weeks ago. I took half of a stick and mashed it into a pyrex bowl and used my vacuum seal to bag the rest. Great stuff and smells wonderful.

You were simply able to mash it? Is it soft enough to do that ( a la arko sticks)

Yeah, I'm not known for my brute strength but it was no problem to mash down. I placed a quarter stick in the pyrex and started to work my thumbs around the edge and pushed down in the middle. One word of advise, don't use a flimsy bowl because using this technique could break a thin walled one and that would be a real bummer explaining to the emergency room nurse that you butchered your hand mashing your soap.

Hahaha, they've seen everything in the ER. But that would probably be a new one. Thanks for the tip

:glare: Someone needs to split one of those blocks into 4 shaving sticks. 500g is a lot of soap.

Vlad, that is exactly what I did. Wrapped the base in aluminum foil, and it works very well as a shave stick. The soap is soft enough to easily leave a deposit of soap on the whiskers. It 'poofs' into a wonderful lather very easily when applying a brush.

Good lather, softens whiskers, provides great lube for razor glide. Recommended.

The website says they don't ship outside of Germany.

Well, it says so, but it doesn't stop you from buying if you provide a delivery address outside of Germany. In fact, I live in Brazil and bought from them just fine (even got an e-mail from them saying I'm the first costumer they had from Brazil).

If you use paypal from their site, you might run into conversion rate issues, (my order was apparently 1 cent off) but they have been responsive and friendly.

Wow!

Klar's Rasierseife Klassik: 190.81€/kg
Klar's Kabinett Rasierseife: 15.98€/kg

That's for the Klassik refill puck, too! What a price difference for a different scent and shape.

I remember seeing somewhere that the Kabinett and Klassik were two very different soaps, not just scent and shape. I'll keep looking for that info.

Every time I have been ready to grab some Klar Kabinett soap, some sort of emergency pops up and drains my fun money. I have the itch to get some again, if I wake up to slashed tires I blame you vicious enablers!:mad3: :wink2:

EDIT: Just pulled the trigger on the Kabinett with BullGoose, along with some other goodies. It's un-American not to spend enough to get free shipping:lol:
Now I know there's something bad on the horizon for me. Oh well, at least I'll be getting some good shaves with some new gear:thumbup:

Exactly how I feel!

And now I probably have enough sopaps for the rest of my life.. Even if I live a long time, which I probably wont!

It's a slippery slope, I tell 'ya! :001_rolle
