King Of Shaves - Azor Advanced Shaving Gel

I tried my tube of Azor Advanced Shaving Gel this morning with a Merkur 33C and SuperMax SS blade.

I wasn't expecting much. While applying it, it didn't seem as slippery as many of my other creams. And when I started shaving, it was slightly less smooth than with my other creams.

But I got no nicks while shaving and, more importantly, when I rubbed the Alum block over my face - there was not a single sting anywhere.

I was seriously impressed, as I always get some Alum stings - even with my best creams.

Has anybody else been as impressed as I was?

Renato

I used to use this a few years back when I was cartridge shaving. At the time I remember it being a step up from anything I'd used before. I can't imagine going back to it though - too many other choices sitting in my shave drawer waiting to be picked!

Thanks very much for your comment.
You are not wrong - there are way too many choices out there - and I think I own a stack of them.
I bought King of Shaves Azor about 5 months ago, and finally got around to using it yesterday.

Before I switched to DE , KOS was my preferred brand of shaving brand. I used their Azor. Truthfully it is only an o.k. Razor but it never tore my face up. I do really love their gels, serums and oils though. The kinexium shave oil is my favorite sofar. I still use their black pepper alpha gel. I will say that I only use their products from Europe. I bought a tube of the Remington branded alpha gel here earlier this year and threw it out after the first shave. The formula here is very different, the product is much inferior. Not to mention, the uk has a few more choices and tea tree shaving scented stuff is getting old

Thanks for that. Interesting the difference between countries. I have their oil, but haven't used it yet.

I used their Azor razor too. First time I tried it with Trumpers shave cream, and I thought it pretty hopeless. But next time I tried it with soap from a standard soap puck, it was extremely good.

Clearly the Azor razor doesn't work well with very slippery creams, which may explain why this Azor Shaving Gel isn't as slippery as other creams - in order to match the razor's requirement.

I have an Azor 4 blade which i pushed to the side for awhile because i got into DE shaving. I shaved with my Azor today with the same prep i would do with a DE (proraso preshave cream, proraso sensitive soap and badger brush) It was an excellent shave for a cartridge. Works well with the Proraso soap. i will be adding it back into my Razor rotation for something different.

I got the Azor and the clear gel when the UK got a release. I gave up on them as my skin didn't like it. However the Azor was reasonably priced but I don't recall seeing any recently. But since starting DE shaving I don't normally look at what stores near me sell in that area.

Yes, and impressive cartridge razor it indeed is.

I own the clear gel version too (the one in the clear tube), but haven't actually got around to using it yet.

I really want the Azor M handle, metal looks so much nicer in my shave kit display than a black plastic razor.
Problem is Australia doesn't seem to stock them anywhere. Such a shame.

You can always keep an eye on Ebay and see if one shows up in the UK, where postage is cheaper.
I just looked now and there is an alloy one being sold for $12.64 from the USA - with $31.58 postage!

Haha thanks but no thanks to that $31.58 postage. I emailed King Of Shaves Australia and they will be sending me a Alloy Sensitive handle that is modified to fit the 4 blade cartridge. Lucky days.

Good thinking - well done.
