Kid Rock Born Free

Just heard this song today and think it's awesome, great lyrics and a great tune. This song makes the hair on my neck stand up.

I think this song might just be the next Born in the USA? I can see it being played in a lot of sports games like the NFL grand final maybe? A great live version too.

A great uplifting song that couldn't have come at a better time for the USA?

I think he sang this song during halftime of the Detroit Lions/New England Patriots game on Thanksgiving Day.

i wasn't a real fan of kid rock, i liked a few of his songs but this one is a ripper! he has a good voice for it too and it shows in the live version.

sings it with real passion.

Most people have no idea but Kid Rock was a wanna be rap star. As music director for my college radio station I was sent his first cd. If you want a good laugh, go find that cd. Just don't pay more then 50 cents for it.

Somehow, somewhere along the line he fell into a rock/country vibe and the rest is history. He really is good at doing that and I have enjoyed alot of his music since then.

He stumbled on "cool"

o come on theres some good songs on that album. When I saw him it was around those days when it was nothing but sex drugs n rock&roll for him... it was crazy. I do enjoy his newer stuff tho

Haven't heard this song, but I thought his last hit (the one set to the tune of "Sweet Home Alabama) was a top quality song. Most songs today, I expect to have the shelf-life of a cardboard box of cereal, but this song I think will still be remembered 20 years from now. It's the one of the few songs that my 8 year-old daughter and I both like.

Additionally, I heard this song on three different radio stations on the same day in my city-one was a country station, one was a top-40 station and the other was a classic rock station. I can't think of ANY song in my lifetime that could be played and sounded like it was in the right place in all three different genres.

I enjoyed his music when he first got famous, and I like it even more now. His last several songs certainly are different than his first two albums, but I think he has matured a lot as a person and it shows in his songs.

Thats what happens when you get Rick Rubin to produce your album. Kid Rock wanted to go in a different direction with his new album so he hired Rubin to do it.

Pretty good song. Also very good that he's no longer involved with my future wife, Pamela Anderson  Rumor has it that Pam Cakes is a big fan of guys with silvertipped Vie Long's!!

Well the whole YMMV thing and all that jazz. I defy any 30 something year old regardless of musical taste to point me towards any song on either of his original two albums that would justify the 17.99 purchase price for the albums.

First Album - I think we put one of these songs on a cart and asked dj's to track it. I'm pretty sure it ended up in the trash when no one was looking

Second Album - I still have this kicking around my old college boxes. Read the fine print before you call out the songs becuase as stated, he rereleased it with different versions and added some songs that were hits 4 years after the original version was released.

In 96 when he hit it big, well thats a different story. That was the rock/rap era that many bands and artists exploited. Most notably lincoln park. And like everyone else who likes a catchy lyric and good rythm, I enjoyed Kid rock as well.

My only feedback is my daughter just asked me "what kind of music is this - 80's?"

She's 8. But spot on (IMO).

80's music rocked BTW.
