KarthVader's first U.S. barbershop experience

So, I took the plunge and went to a local barbershop in Rochester Hills, MI.

My experience was nothing short of prodigious. Not only was the staff courteous, but they were so personable. They made me feel at home and I immediately felt like I belonged.

Moreover, I heard a whirring sound, then warm lather was smeared on the back of my neck and the barber cleaned up my haircut with an injector straight edge :w00t:!!!! It's safe to say that I will never go anywhere but a barbershop to get my haircut. Some of you might know that I spent about a year in India. The barbershops there were interesting, but I had never experienced anything like that in the US.

Things I experienced for the first time in the US whilst getting my haircut:

1. A great haircut that impressed people (met a female friend for lunch afterwards and she loved my haircut).
2. First time I had a conversation with the person cutting my hair. If a woman, especially a younger woman, is cutting my hair, they think I'm hitting on them if I ever started a conversation.
3. Being offered a shave.
4. I now know what that "Barbershop smell" is. It put a smile on my face. I almost skipped back to my car after the haircut. Almost.

The barbershop: One of the few bastions left for men.

Edit: The name of the barbershop is Aaron's Barbershop

Where had you been getting your hair cut?

I've been going to the same Fantastic Sam's for about 16 years. The owner cuts my hair, but he does it in 7 minutes flat and then I'm out the door. I really liked how the barber took his time to do a good job.
