Kansas City Metro Shout Out

Hello everyone in the KC metro area. I'd like to say hello and see how many of us there are. In your reply, please include the following:

1. How long have you been wet shaving and what is your favorite instrument e.g. DE, straight, etc.?
2. What are your favorite products?
3. What do you buy locally and where?

I look forward to hearing back from you ..

Best,
Chris

I'll go first ...

I have been wet shaving a little over two weeks now with a Muhle R89 DE razor. My favorite products are Proraso green aftershave and TOBS avacado shaving cream. I found Thayer's witch hazel at Whole Foods on 119th street in Overland Park. I have shopped at the Gent's Place http://thegentsplace.com/ which appears to be a high end barber shop hang out/club/store. I linked to the store so you can see which products they carry. They do shoe shines and shaves there. Pretty neat place.

I have the buyers contact info for the Whole Foods store and I plan to make a recommendation to her in the future.

I live about an hour northeast of KC.

I've been wet shaving since 2005 and primarily use a Weishi DE and a Vulfix brush. I don't/can't buy much locally. I've been to the AOS store on the Plaza but didn't buy anything. I pretty much have to rely on online purchases from Classic Shaving. I mostly use TOBS and Proraso. Coincidentally, I found an eBay seller in Olathe today that sells Proraso so I will give them a try.

The Gent's Place looks interesting! I didn't know there was such a place as that in OP. I will check it out sometime. We usually go to the Whole Foods on 119th and the larger one on 91st as well as TJ's about every three weeks to stock up on food (not much in the way of organic or all natural in the town where I live).

Enjoy the snow!

used to live in op, now live about 30 min away. there really isnt much in the area for wet shaving. the gents place, aos on the plaza and crabtree and evelyn at op mall. at least thats what i have found. i usually rely on ebay, or amazon. you might want to give any of the antique stores a shot, but i dont know where they are or what kind of luck if you might have.

I've been wet shaving for since last November and started with a DE. For the past few months have been working learning how to use a straight. Local finds other than AOS on the plaza, there is a store called Pin Stripes acrossed from Californal Pizza that has some Truefitt and Hill products. Also Bath and Body works sell the C.O. Bigelow cream. Most of the stuff I have is from WCS or ebay thought I've been wanting to scour antique stores more.

Oops I just remembered you asked for favorites. Favorites are AOS lavender, MWF, Old Spice, and I recently got a tin from Mike's Natural Soap which is awesome. I love the tallow soaps though I have several creams like TOBS and others.
