Always looking over my wetshaving techniques and results I reached an interesting realization this morning.....I think my lather has been too thick.

is this possible? making lather too thick???

I had this realization after noticing a few things....

1. the "squeeze and shake" the brush method and scrub it till the soap gets tacky and picks up is great for lather, but I was burning through vdh too fast
2. the dry brush method takes away the pleasent warm heat that comes with wather and suds turning into lather
3. the thick lather was effecting my shave by preventing any cutting from happening

I rewatched this video...

http://www.youtube.com/user/mantic59#p/u/16/-qSIP6uQ3EI

and noticed that the great mantic just soaks his brush, shakes it, puts some water on the puck and drains it....8 second swirl with the brush, and after 2 min facelathering...BOOM good merengue like lather....warm, hydrated, simple.

I tried this approach this morning and was amazed at the difference. I like my wetshaving simple, get up and shower, then a simple facelather like this and great lather. Less soap used than ever and better results.

I'm going to have to try that method next time. I dont know about too thick of lather. I've only made really thick lather a few times.

I know what you mean. I started face lathering this week, couldn't be happier with the simplicity or the results.
