What's new

Just shaved with the 1962 Gillete Slim Adustable for the first time

I have to say that it gave me a better shave than my merkur 34c.

A few of you guys adviced me not to shave with it at the 9 setting, but i tried the 6/7 and it didn't seem like it was getting close. So i bumped it to a 9, granted it was the 3rd time i used that specific blade but it was a very smooth and close shave. No cuts either.

My merkur is gonna take an indefinite vacation.

The Slim was around for a long, long time for a reason .. I'm more partial to it's rotund cousin, but the Slim is second only to that one

Slim is awesome. Fatboy too. I'd hate to have to choose. Or... if I were stuck with either one, I'd be fine. And my dailies on modern razors.

I went through quite a lot of razors before I tried the slim and sold the rest. I actually find it quite aggressive on anything 6 and up, so I usually stay at 5.

After reading this I'm inspired to clean up my Slim and Fatty and put them to use. I'm enamoured by my 40's Rocket right now but I think the adjustables need a little love.

Congratulations! You do know that you can add one or two shims to your 34C to make it a more aggressive razor. You may be surprised by how great it shaves, then.

I got a slim recently and just love it to pieces. Quality razor that shaves smoothly for me, very happy with that purchase. Setting 4 works well for me.

I actually don't know what, can you point me in the right direction?

It would be much appreciated sir.
