What's new

Just ordered pipe tobacco online for the first time

Just placed an order with pipesandcigars.com for some Seattle pipe club- Mississippi River (I am from Mississippi so it was a must have), Hal o the Wynd, and Solani 656.

I'm looking forward to getting them with great anticipation. However, is it just me, or does it seem way to easy to buy tobacco online? I have always stayed away from it because I figured it would be a real pain and I would have to give lots of information I wasn't willing to give out. However, it seemed so easy that any 9 year old could have bought bulks of tobacco for him and all of his friends. The only thing it asked was my date of birth, and I easily could have lied about that because there was no form of verification what so ever.

It verifies with your credit card as well... so long as the holder is over 18 you are set I guess... I made my first online order last night, I'm rather excited about it as well!

I ordered 50g tins of the Frog Morton line and the Peterson Selection pack from that black friday sale from Smoking Pipes. The Peterson pack had the Sherlock Holmes, Old Dublin, Irish Oak, Sunbreeze, and Sweet Killarney.

I paid through Paypal so I don't know how it would verify it given the general security of information with paypal. Its just weird to me, I guess i'm glad I didn't have to give out a lot of information though. I'm always weary of ID theft and such.

It looks like you are well on your way to some good smokes as well. Its going to be hard for me to choose what I try first.

I have heard this one mentioned a few times. I am fresh off a few year hiatus and have only made two orders since I've been back. This will be on the next order for sure. I can hardly wait to give it a try.

I'll let you know what I think about it. I've heard great things--some say that it's "the one."

Not 100% sure, but I believe since you have to be 18 years of age before any contract is legally binding, all credit card and paypal transactions would have to be from someone at least 18. Of course that doesn't mean someones kid couldn't use the parents accounts, but that doesn't seem like the vendors responsibility to me. I've never tried the Mud, but your other selections are top notch!

I'm thinking that barring credit card fraud/id theft, they should be able to figure out how old you are... and if some kids decided to order some pipe tobacco... it is a lot better/classier than other stuff they could be getting online with credit cards not that I endorse kids smoking or anything of that nature

pipesandcigars is a great site, IMO. And yes, they do make it much too easy
