It's a Monteverde Jewlria. I'm using Franklin and Christoph Black Magic ink at the moment, but I'm not sure how well it works with fine nibs. I just thoroughly cleaned it and refilled it but I'm still not able to write smoothly. Kind of frustrating.
I did and I did. I let it sit then emptied the converter and refilled it a few more times. If I write slowly and ensure the forks of the nib spread it writes just fine. My F&C had a long break in period as well. If it still gives me trouble I'll try a wetter ink. Thanks for the support and advice guys!
I usually flush the converter with water before the first use, with a drop of dishwashing soap (Palmolive or whatever brand you like) added to it. That removes the oily residues from the converter wall, and from the ink feed.
I had similar issues with Franklin-Christoph Olde Emerald and Syrah Syrah combined with new pens. Not sure how they compare to Black Magic, but these colors are pretty saturated and write a little dry, so they aren't a no-maintenance option. Once my pens (4 or 5 different ones have been used with these inks) have had a break-in with other inks, they behave better with the F-C products, but they still skip occasionally and dry out in the nib after sitting for a few days or more. I'll still use them, but I have to remember to slow down my writing a little and accept that they need a little more futzing sometimes. Sorry to throw in technical terms like that.
